Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a General Manufacturing Manager 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.

The General Manufacturing Manager 1 is responsible for the direct supervision of employees and processes in a manufacturing environment. This leader provides direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies.
Overall responsibilities include: driving employee efficiency, meeting product cost and schedule targets, managing the area to produce quality products, and engaging employees to achieve their highest potential.
This leader is expected to work independently across organizations; manage the use of consumables to achieve budget targets; assign and manage operators to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields; implement our process improvements to improve affordability and quality.
Additional Responsibilities:
Providing direction and coaching to technicians and other production personnel in the assembly and manufacturing areas
Encourages and provides direction for career development of employees, including educational options for highly motivated employees
Provides leadership/direction to ensure all affordability initiatives and opportunities for process improvements are systematically identified, pursued, and supported
Lead a team of highly skilled manufacturing technicians to safely provide a quality product on-time and on-cost for various customers
Ensure facilities, tooling, planning, materials, and people are available to complete assigned workloads
Execute day-to-day operations to complete daily production goals in support of business requirements
Initiate Maintenance Work Orders, Tool Discrepancy Reports, Tooling Change Notices and Facilities Engineering Orders, and track to completion
Ensure training (e.g., procedures, quality documents, safety, etc.) is complete and effective
Responsible for performance management and corrective action
Administer and implement corrective actions for mishaps, quality issues, FOD, etc.
Lead/participate in root cause and corrective action analysis, implementation, effectiveness, etc.
Utilize succession planning tools to develop team members

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
AA Degree or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree and 5 years minimum years of experience
At least 1 year experience leading projects or cross-functional teams
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
Ability to work flexible, changing shifts
Experience leading teams in high energy assignments while promoting a safe and productive environment
Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Ability to read and interpret engineering (e.g., drawings, 3-D models, specifications) and operating procedures
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Manufacturing, Program, Engineering, Functional Support Management, and Professionals
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Bachelor's Degree or higher level of education.
Experience leading manufacturing/production/integration & test teams in a production environment.
A proven track record of developing and implementing strategies for change.
Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules.
Aerospace / ICBM Industry Experience.
Prior experience in program start-up.
Experience working with Shop Floor Control Tools like MES.
Knowledge of Manufacturing Management Plan requirements and transitioning to production.
Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal.

Salary Range: $93,100.00 - $139,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
