Sensory Technician
Job Title: Sensory TechnicianJob Description The Sensory Technician will play a critical role in conducting and managing sensory tests to ensure high-quality product evaluation. With a focus on sensory testing and consumer feedback, this position requires a strong foundation in food science and laboratory practices. Responsibilities + Administer sensory and consumer tests following the instructions of Sensory Specialists, Scientists, and Senior Technicians, ensuring adherence to best practices. + Build sessions in sensory software, prepare and code samples, and provide samples to panelists. + Manage products under tests, including procurement, storage, and disposal. + Contribute to panel data checking and results report building. + Schedule, plan, and execute informal tastings, including product preparation, ballot development, and reporting. + Participate in informal tastings to provide guidance as needed. + Oversee all acuity testing requirements for discrimination panel recruitment, including onboarding, lab orientation, lab setup, and record maintenance of attendance and performance. + Assist in training and management of sensory panels, including screening, training, and performance monitoring of internal and external panels. + Maintain records of external panel attendance and performance. + Assist in the analysis and reporting of sensory results using appropriate sensory software. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in sciences, preferably in Food Science. + Experience in lab testing and sensory testing. + Strong understanding of sensory evaluation methodologies, procedures, and processes. + Proficiency in safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Good Laboratory Practices. + Computer literacy, including MS-Office and sensory software. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in sensory laboratory management is a plus. + Technical training in a scientific or food-related field is advantageous. + Core knowledge of the 10 Principles and expert knowledge in areas of responsibility. + Good interpersonal and teamwork skills. + Proficiency in the local language and basic level of English, both written and oral.
