Senior WHS Specialist , Workplace Health and Safety
Description Keeping our people safe and well during yard and dock operations is a top priority at Amazon. Our Senior WHS Specialists play an integral part in making this happen across our network. In this role, you'll put vital steps in place to ensure everyone involved in dock and yard operations works in a safe and healthy environment. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a difference through stakeholder engagement and project delivery across multiple locations. By proactively addressing safety operations, and quality standards, you'll empower our teams and partners to provide a safe working environment and a culture of safety first. As a Senior WHS Specialist you'll implement and oversee safety protocols while supporting key stakeholders across operations, transportation, and third-party providers. You'll work closely with regional teams to ensure safety standards are consistently met, managing improvement projects and reducing risk across the network. Your role will be crucial in developing and maintaining a culture of safety that spans our entire network, positively impacting the well-being of our employees, partners, and service providers. Key job responsibilities - Monitor and improve yard and dock safety performance across regional locations - Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to guide resource allocation and prioritize improvement efforts. - Conduct regional audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations, focusing on yard operations and dock safety standards. - Spearhead cross-functional projects to resolve systemic safety issues, collaborating with various stakeholders - Provide expert guidance on yard and dock safety, supporting continuous improvement and new site launches - Standardize safety protocols for yard operations and dock operations across the network - Drive a culture of safety through engagement with local leadership and implementation of behavioral change initiatives - Support the development of training materials and programs to enhance yard and dock safety awareness - Investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement preventive measures - Stay current with industry best practices, recommending and implementing innovative safety solutions About the team Amazon couldn’t deliver without the Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team. Basic Qualifications - A Bachelor's degree, or equivalent level of qualification in line with the European Qualifications Framework (EFQ) - Occupational Safety Certification „Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit“ - Relevant experience in project work - Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and German - Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously Preferred Qualifications - Relevant experience in compliance with local occupational safety regulations - Experience with Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methods - Qualifications or experience in sustainability - Relevant experience in communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues and management level - Relevant Transportation knowledge Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
