Senior Transmission And Distribution Engineer
Job Title: Senior Transmission and Distribution EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Transmission and Distribution Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership in our Engineering Department. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in electrical engineering, specifically within transmission and distribution systems.

ResponsibilitiesProvide technical expertise and guidance to the Engineering Department, handling complex assignments and mentoring junior staff.Ensure compliance with system specifications and conduct system performance analysis, recommending improvements.Evaluate new products and trends, making recommendations for system enhancements.Lead and supervise projects, including the supervision of interns and less experienced engineers.Conduct feasibility studies and prepare design reports, cost estimates, and forecasts based on growth trends and modeling data.Ensure plans and specifications comply with industry standards and codes (NEC and NESC).Perform constructability reviews and address deficiencies in design or maintenance.Prepare and review electric construction standards, job drawings, material lists, cost estimates, and construction labor estimates.Prepare contracts for bidding purposes to secure contractors for line construction, maintenance, and emergency rebuilds.Stay current on industry standards and update company specifications accordingly.Prepare and review project budgets and justifications.Resolve complex customer and technical issues and respond to emergency call-outs, managing restoration efforts.Promote and enforce safety practices and policies.Maintain relationships with City, County, and State entities, coordinating with other departments as needed.Essential SkillsA degree from an ABET accredited school in Electrical Engineering.Current AL Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain licensure by comity within six months of hire.Minimum 10 years of practical experience with 12-25 kV distribution and 46/115/138/161 kV transmission systems.Experience with NESC compliance and modeling software like Synergi, ETAP, or similar platforms.Knowledge of materials, equipment, and system model planning.Experience with integrated business, design, and mapping systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsExcellent interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills.Demonstrated ability to interact positively with others at all levels.Good technical knowledge and teaching skills.Subject to recall and on-call duty.Current Alabama driver’s license.Subject to periodic random drug and alcohol testing.Work Environment

The role is primarily sedentary work in an office environment, with standard business hours from Monday through Friday. Occasionally, you may be required to work extended hours in inclement weather while coordinating activities to mitigate severe storm damage. The position includes the use of various equipment such as vehicles, computers, and software like MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, NiSC, Bentley, and Mapping/GIS software. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110864.00 - $134139.00/yr.
