**Job Description:**
Schnabel Engineering’s is currently seeking a Senior Technical Manager in Tunnel Engineering. This is a key role providing program management, engineering reviews, and construction management services on a major tunneling program in eastern Massachusetts. This role will require on-site work from a project office in the Boston metropolitan area.
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Serve as a key member of the program management team, supporting the project owner through program management, engineering evaluations, and construction oversight.
+ Collaborate effectively with the project owner, Schnabel Engineering staff, program consultants, and construction contractors.
+ Apply strong problem-solving skills to resolve technical challenges, ensuring successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
+ Assist the project owner in developing and executing strategies for a ~$2B deep hard rock tunneling program, including risk management, procurement, contract practices, design reviews, and oversight of construction management consultant teams.
**Required Skills/Experience:**
+ 15+ years of relevant experience in tunnel engineering and construction management (with a preference for construction management experience)
+ Construction management experience on projects of similar magnitude involving rock tunnel and shaft excavation using a variety of methods and installation of initial support and final liner.
+ Strong knowledge of engineering principles related to rock tunneling and extensive experience with construction management best practices—including change management, cost control, document control, quality assurance, safety, and environmental compliance.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within program management, design, construction management, and contractor teams.
+ Ability to lift construction materials and equipment up to 50lbs
+ Ability to navigate heavy civil construction job sites with rugged terrain and stand for potential extended periods of time outside and in inclement weather if necessary
+ Ability to climb ladders that may extend to lengths of 25 feet
+ Work in accordance with OSHA safety standards to maintain regulatory compliance
**Preferred Requirements:**
+ Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline preferred.
+ Professional Engineers, Certified Construction Manager
**Other Requirements:**
+ Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
+ Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
The compensation range for this position is between $150,000 to $250,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
