Role: Senior Systems Engineer - Infrastructure
Location: Bangalore – India (Onsite)
Job Description:We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer - Infrastructure with 10+ years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate must have hands on experience with End point solutions, hardware configuration management, CMDB, Procurements, asset management and negotiation with vendors, including but not limited to Network support, end user support, onboarding and off-boarding process management etc., that come as part of the end point solutions role.
This role will report into a local team leader and manager as well as have working relationships with remote technical lead and other stakeholders to work with. This role could involve working in a shift that aligns with “out of business” hours and weekends to support critical business needs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Manage the Hardware infrastructure and services that relate to end point solutions of laptops, desktops, mac books and AV equipment etc.Work with external vendors to manage procurements, obtain multiple quotes from multiple vendors, compare pricing, and select the most suitable vendorProcure IT assets on time to maintain sufficient stock levelsEnsure timely allotment of assets to the Service Desk (SD) TeamLead IT Asset auditsComplete monthly Service Purchase Orders (POs) on time to avoid disruptions in servicesManage Purchase Order Requests (POR) for all IT-related tasksCoordinate with the finance team for monthly billing activitiesHandle vendor coordination, including registration processesPrepare quarterly scrap lists, onboard new vendors, and collaborate to obtain competitive quotes.Plan Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) and operational budgets.Collaborate with the finance team during annual audits and support Fixed Asset Register (FAR) verification.Monitor, acknowledge, update, and close incident requests in the Service Management toolMaintain work logs, update incidents and requests with appropriate information, and own the request until closure.Manage vendors, licensing, and infrastructure-related budgetsCreate and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and architecture diagramsMaintain good professional relationships with counterparts across the organization. Participate in solution rollouts, upgrades, and training sessions for end-users as well as participate in training to learn new tools, products, and technologies.Attend weekly, monthly, and ad hoc IT and generic team meetings as necessary and complete and submit necessary documentation, activity reports, and causal analysis documents.Document new processes and update existing SOPsThe candidate will be expected to learn about and understand the product offerings (furniture) of Herman Miller to be able to support the business better.Technical skills:
10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure / Systems EngineeringStrong expertise in Windows & Linux environmentsHands-on experience with VMware / Hyper-VExperience with networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLANs, Firewalls, VPNs)Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Knowledge of backup & DR solutionsUnderstanding of ITIL processes and infrastructure best practicesExperience working on any Incident management / Support ticketing systemsCustomer Support Process experienceExperience using JIRA and ConfluenceExperience in a retail or commerce industryIdeal candidate:A graduate / post-graduate in engineering/technology or equivalent.Having excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal in English.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly understand, retain, and apply large amounts of new informationHaving anywhere between 10+ years of IT experience of which at least 5 years should have been in a similar role.Ability to work individually or within a team environmentWilling to work in UK / US / Early morning India shift on a need basis and on-call/weekendsAbility to participate in multiple projects/tasks and priorities in a healthy work environmentHas attention to detail and a penchant for qualityHas a constructive approach to giving and receiving feedback.Has testimonials to prove high levels of customer satisfaction in previous engagementsAbility to take direction, constructive criticism, and work within specified deadlines (SLAs & OLAs)Adhere to processes and procedures defined for the role, the team, and the organizationCertifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft Azure, AWS, CCNA/CCNP, ITILExposure to security frameworks and compliance standardsWho We Hire?
