**Hungry, Humble, Honest, with Heart.** **The Opportunity** The Sr staff-level role is pivotal in advancing the Nutanix Core Infrastructure and Hybrid Cloud Manageability Products, which take care of the management and control plane aspects of the complete life cycle of the Nutanix subsystem. This includes product and technology stacks across on-prem and cloud. Provides a unique opportunity to work in depth and breadth across the complex hybrid cloud subsystems. This position combines deep technical expertise with leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and driving complex projects in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. You'll contribute to software that enables scalability, resiliency, and performance for diverse applications, virtualisation platforms, and emerging technologies like AI systems storage. **About the Team** At Nutanix, you will be part of the Core & Hybrid Cloud Manageability Infrastructure team based in Bangalore. As a new hire, you will be expected to work from the office two days a week, ensuring face-to-face interactions with your team members and promoting a sense of camaraderie and community within the Core Infra team. **Your Role** + Architect, design, and develop platforms & infrastructure for converged computing and storage platforms, including HCI, hybrid cloud, cloud-native environments, and storage for AI workloads. + Provide a technical, strategic path for the team and company to develop new products, enhancing the business goals. + Ability to translate high-level Key business goals into technical goals and build them + Lead and mentor a team of 15-20 talented engineers, guiding technical direction and delivering complex projects across multiple teams. + Collaborate closely with development, test, documentation, product management, and support teams to ensure high-quality releases in a dynamic environment. + Engage with customers and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues. **What You Will Bring** + 15+/20+ years of software development experience in product companies, with a proven track record in distributed systems, storage, file systems, operating systems, networking, cloud-native systems or related fields. + Expertise in programming languages, with rock-solid proficiency in Python, Java and/or Go; familiarity with kernel programming/debugging is a plus. + Prior experience with designing large-scale management and control planes will be an added advantage. + Expertise/familiarity with cloud-native systems, Kubernetes, Docker/containers, large-scale manageability and control plane systems. + Experience/familiarity with pub/sub systems, distributed caching, and data management flows. + Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, analysis techniques, TCP/IP, OS internals, and design/implementation trade-offs in clustered, high-performance, fault-tolerant systems. + Expertise/familiarity working on hardware platforms dealing with low-level understanding of subsystems, apart from the idiosyncrasies of cloud-native systems. + Deeper understanding of operating system internals (filesystem, memory management, OS bring-up sequences) and debugging complex issues. + Extensive knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, and cloud-based storage technologies. + Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (e.g., ESXi/KVM, VMware, Hyper-V, Xen) and storage management. + Experience/familiarity with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Cassandra, or Zookeeper is preferred. + Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and owning cross-team problem-solving. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ownership mindset for tackling difficult challenges. + A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required; a master's or advanced degree will be a plus. **Work Arrangement** Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
