The Senior Staff Chief Engineer is responsible for managing the technical direction and execution of all aspects of engineering on a program including design, development, implementation, integration, testing, and delivery of product to the customer. The Senior Staff Chief Engineer is the technical leader for the program engineering team and serves as technical advisor to the program manager. The Senior Staff Chief Engineer is typically the primary technical point-of-contact to the customer. The Senior Staff Chief Engineer coordinates across the program’s Systems Engineering team and other engineering teams. The Senior Staff Chief Engineer ensures that all engineering teams adhere to sound engineering processes, in accordance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards

Role & Responsibilities

Responsible for the technical execution of all DSDS technology and product development and maturation (This includes but not limited to ACT MCM PL, Rock Ridge and COTS data convertor solutions)Oversees program planning activities, providing broad perspective on stakeholder needs and product line prioritiesSupports quick resolution of pop up issues, collaborating with technical staff and the program support staffTracks and supports the mediation of risks associated with product performance and program executionPrepares communication with executive leadership, clearly articulating achievements, technical status, and execution needsFinal technical adjudicator of the program Technical Review Board (TRB)Closely follows the high-speed data converter and micro electronics industries and marketUnderstands the cost and performance t of various technology solutions, supports MAKE/BUY trades of internal versus external technologies and products for using programs Responsible for developing common subsystem implementation requirements and design guidelines using DSDS technologies and productsWorks directly with using programs to understand technical requirements and develop solutions using DSDS technologies and productsEnsures using program follow design guidelines to maximize commonality and reuseChairs the DSDS Strategy Authority Board with stakeholder programsWords directly with ECD OUs to pursue CRAD funding for next generation DSDS technologies and productsMentors other technical leaders on the DSDS program

Basic Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience, A Master’s degree with 12 years of experience or a PhD with 9 years of experience in Electrical EngineeringU.S Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance1 year experience with Northrop's Secure Processing products either through hands on development or through using program application5 years of experience in systems development, integration, and test for DoD systemsProficient in verbal and written communication to customers, program management, and technical teamsPrior experience developing technology roadmaps and experience briefing to strategy recommendations to business executives.In-depth understanding of MRL and TRL and experience with advancing lower TRL/MRL technology into demonstratable systemsExperience with HFSS, PCB/CCA Design, and Digital/Analog & Analog/Digital Conversation TechnologyExperience with leading Internal Research and Development (IRAD) Efforts

Preferred Qualifications:  

Master’s degree or PhD in STEM related fieldDomain expertise in defense electronic systemsFamiliarity with Earned Value, Scheduling, and Agile PrinciplesUnderstanding of DoD systems engineering requirementsExperience with NG ACT MCM Technology and experience with how ACT MCM Technology is fielded within NG Products

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $179,600.00 - $269,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
