Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant

Location: Georgetown, Washington, DC (Onsite)

Overview

Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a client in Georgetown, Washington, DC to hire a Senior Staff Accountant for their growing accounting team. This role owns core operational accounting with a strong emphasis on month‑end close, balance sheet management, internal audit support, and accounts receivable. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with sharp attention to detail and a solid foundation in day‑to‑day accounting operations. This position is fully onsite.

Key ResponsibilitiesMonth‑End Close: Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments; ensure accurate cutoff and timely, GAAP‑compliant reporting.Balance Sheet Ownership: Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts; research variances; maintain supporting schedules and documentation.Audit & Controls: Support internal audit activities (testing, documentation) and maintain audit‑ready records aligned to internal control best practices.Accounts Receivable: Manage invoicing, cash application, account reconciliations, and aging review; partner with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.Process & SOPs: Help develop and document SOPs; identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls across accounting workflows.QualificationsDemonstrated experience in operational accounting, including month‑end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and AR.Working knowledge of internal controls, audit support, and compliance best practices.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; thrives in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.Experience with accounting systems such as Opera, BirchStreet, Blackline, or Ontrac is a plus. Hospitality experience preferred but not required.Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
