**How will you make an impact in this role?**
Responsible for contacting clients with overdue accounts to secure the settlement of the account. Also they do preventive work to avoid future overdues with accounts that have a high exposure.
American Express is looking for a Sr Software Engineer in the Risk Decision Technology (RDT) organization for the Authorization Modernization Program (AMP) team. The RDT team is responsible for cross-domain, configurable platforms to enable best-in-class risk management and American Express growth with strong governance.
The AMP team is embarking on a journey to modernize and build next-gen authorization platform. This role of Senior Software Engineer will be an integral part, in addition to hands-on technical contributions, in leading a team of engineers that designs and builds large-scale, high-transaction, cloud-native applications and drive us closer to the vision of a modernized authorizations platform.
**As Senior Software Engineer II, you will:**
+ Lead agile software product development team of engineers, perform code reviews, manage and monitor their deliverables, delegation of work based on priorities and engineers’ interests and skill set.
+ Responsible for the delivery of strategic capabilities.
+ Mentor engineers by giving them required guidance and helped them achieve their goals.
+ Recruit and hire outstanding and diverse talent from the industry.
+ Influence up/down/across and promote modern software engineering principles.
+ Collaborate with enterprise technology teams to motivate change required and support the team in technical issue resolution.
+ Engage in 1-on-1 conversations with team members for mentorship and career development planning.
+ Collaborate within and across business teams to design solutions and prioritize, plan, and execute the development schedule.
+ Closely work with peers and partners to drive software solutions that align to strategic roadmaps, prioritized initiatives and contributes to engineering best practices across the company.
+ Review solution flow (L2) and create systems design (L3)
+ Lead, develop, and deliver robust, highly scalable, fault tolerant, and reliable large scale data intensive distributed applications for processing and persisting with high throughput and low latency needs.
+ Resolve conflicts and any impediments that engineers face.
+ Efficiently communicate and describe the tradeoffs during scope creep to the product and project management teams.
+ Participation in product release meetings and status reporting
**Minimum Qualification:**
+ Holds a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Information Systems, or other related field (or has equivalent work experience)
+ 10 years of z/OS experience required.
+ 10 years of software development experience in a professional environment.
+ Practical knowledge of Distributed Cloud Engineering, high availability techniques and implementation.
+ 6 years of experience building large scale distributed applications and APIs with technologies and frameworks like Java, Spring, SpringBoot, Spring Batch, REST, gRPC, and relational and NoSQL database technologies like Oracle, Cassandra, and Postgres.
+ Experience with messaging, streaming, and data exchange tools and technologies like GCP PubSub, Kafka, Solace, IBM MQ, NDM, SFTP, SFT, gRPC, TCP, HTTP.
+ Proven track record of delivering highly complex projects, working with multiple tech teams across the organization.
+ Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure. Comfortably deal with fast pace, changing needs, and limited resources.
+ Strong problem-solving skills: technical competence, opinionated on details, understand the internal working of platforms, and drive the vision for the platform.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Recent experience leading a team globally or currently a tech lead for a team.
+ Experience leading individual contributors and providing career direction, coaching, and building development plans.
+ Experience working in a distributed team model and collaborating with remote team members.
+ Ability to effectively communicate to internal and external business partners on architecture and solution design.
+ Looks proactively beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities.
+ Willingness to learn new technologies and use them to their optimal potential.
+ Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels across functions, from both technical and practical views.
