Senior Software Engineer

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in Apigee (Hybrid / X) and hands-on experience in cloud-native and container-based engineering. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in API platform engineering, a solid understanding of API consumer/producer journeys, and the ability to apply AI-driven engineering practices to improve automation, quality, and developer experience. This role is focused on building, modernizing, and scaling enterprise API platforms using Apigee, Kubernetes, cloud, and intelligent automation.

In this role, you will:Lead complex technology initiatives with enterprise-wide impact on API platformsServe as a key contributor in defining standards and best practices for API engineering, security, and platform modernizationDesign, develop, test, and maintain API gateway components, including proxies, shared flows, and security policiesReview and evaluate large-scale technical solutions across Apigee Hybrid/X, cloud, and Kubernetes environmentsProvide technical direction on Apigee architecture, routing, security (OAuth/mTLS/JWT), and API lifecycle best practicesDrive AI-driven engineering accelerators (e.g., OAS generation, proxy automation, onboarding assistants, validation tooling)Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, platform owners, and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve complex technical issuesLead project tracks, mentor peers, and influence engineering teams toward modern, automated, and cloud-native implementationsRequired Qualifications:4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, educationDesired Qualifications:Experience in Software Engineering or equivalent demonstrated through hands-on roles4+ years of platform installation, configuration, and engineering support experienceSubject Matter Expert (SME) in Apigee (Hybrid, X, or Edge)Strong experience with cloud technologies: GCP, PCF, AzureHands-on experience with hybrid cloud deployments and Kubernetes-based environmentsStrong knowledge of CI/CD toolkits, GitHub, Linux/Unix, observability tools, and automation frameworksSolid understanding of API security: OAuth2, mTLS, JWT, rate limiting, threat protectionGood understanding of API consumer and producer journeys, API governance, and developer experienceHands-on experience with Apigee Hybrid and Apigee X runtime plane & management planeExperience with Harness, UCD, Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Shell scriptingExperience implementing and operating container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)Familiarity with OAS specification standards, API documentation, and SOAP-to-REST modernizationExposure to building AI-based engineering solutions using LLMs, embeddings, and automationJob Expectations:Strong ownership and end-to-end accountabilityHigh sense of responsibility and follow-throughProactive problem-solving mindsetFlexibility to learn new technologies and adapt quicklyFast learner with ability to work in a dynamic, Agile engineering environmentAbility to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical partners
