What You’ll Do

Product & Technology - Software Engineering & IT develops and maintains Telstra's software and IT systems, working on some really cutting-edge technologies. Responsibilities will include.

Technical leadership and problem solving through engineering initiatives.

Use in-depth understanding of Telstra landscape, ecosystem, to rapidly synthesize the requirement, and deliver the effective solutions.

Aid engineering teams to continuously capture their software footprint enabling them to continuously measure themselves against industry standard metrics and coach and mentor the teams on identifying improvement opportunities.

Empower and support stakeholders across the organisation to adopt Software metrics by providing subject matter expertise to influence the adoption.

Develop innovative software that maintains data/network security management, leveraging set processes to reduce the time to production.

Continuously explore the responsible use of AI to quickly and effectively deliver solutions.

Translate customer needs into leading-edge software application products, services or systems that meet Telstra’s time, cost, and quality standards.

Seek diverse viewpoints from colleagues in your team and apply analytical thinking to resolve complex problems that don’t have an immediate or ‘tried-and-tested’ solution.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives of our systems and processes, apply ‘best practice’ corporate testing standards and our quality assurance approach to drive improved outcomes (e.g., productivity, customer experience and/or profitability)

Apply a continuous learning and development mindset to your work, using tried and tested methodologies but also finding opportunities to experiment to incrementally improve or resolve challenges.

About You

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven leadership experience of leading large software teams and/or programs

Experience in leading engineering outcomes across all aspects of software development life cycle – solution, design, build, test, operate.

Experience in leading teams which work on

Java or php

Database Technologies – MySQL, Oracle, Cloud

Microsoft PowerBI

Ability to innovatively pitch software ideas based on problem statements, progress to solution, experiment, continuously evolve directly working with stakeholders

Strong knowledge and implementation experience of FLOW and DORA metrics:

DORA – Software Delivery Performance Metrics, Flow Framework – Value Stream Metrics, CICD Metrics, Quality Metrics

Strong experience in quality engineering with ability to contribute defining and implementing improvement initiatives on testing cycles velocity, efficiency and effectiveness

Strong ability with proven experience in defining best practices and improvement strategies based on industry standard metrics across large number of teams – across development, testing, operations, resilience, security

Proven mentoring and coaching experience for engineers on best practices, standards, continuous improvements

Highly Desired

Ability to gather, preprocess, and manage data required for AI and ML algorithms

Strong documentation and presentation skills

Knowledge on industry standards, best practices on how to effectively use Insights to empower an organisation

Familiarity with partner engagement from an engineering perspective for improved partner performance using engineering metrics, insights, standards and practices

Azure certified or well experienced
