Position: Senior Software Engineer 

 

Job Location: 1375 Crossman Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94089 

 

Duties: Design and implement components for Walmart.com's next-generation, global eCommerce Platform. Work with Java and other related technologies to design and develop high-performance and scalable applications for use within the Retail Core Tech & Strati ecosystem. Responsible for the design and implementation of high-performance and scalable applications for use within the Walmart ecosystem for product data enrichment. Design orchestration layer components in a massively scalable, high performance, multi-tenant, and global eCommerce platform. Evaluate software technologies and architectures, conduct proof of concepts experiments, and provide best in class software solutions. Guide a team of 2-4 engineers, including remote teams, to drive medium to large projects/programs. Evangelize and drive adoption of engineering best practices and develop innovation strategies. Analyze A/B test results data and customer feedback to identify and fix issues related to the software platform. Responsible for environment setups for development, testing, and deployments. Responsible for laying the foundation for Walmart's future global platform as well as proposing solutions to ease software development and monitoring of software. Support the implementation of business solutions, including developing technical features that improve the data quality and page response time on Walmart.com and the associated resource tiers. Build new instrumentation that tracks the metrics as defined by the business requirements that drive Walmart.com. Provide applications development support to the business. Troubleshoot business and production issues by being on-call to resolve site issues from an engineering standpoint when engaged with the Site support team and reinstate the failed components. 

 

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 5 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 2 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment. 

 

Skills required: Experience with Java to design and develop high-performance and scalable applications. Experience with applications development support. Experience with technical evaluation of software technologies and architectures. Experience conducting proof of concept experiments and providing software solutions. Experience evangelizing and driving adoption of engineering best practices and developing innovation strategies. Experience with environment setups for development, testing, and deployments. Experience troubleshooting business and production issues to resolve site issues and reinstating the failed components. Experience proposing solutions to ease software development and monitoring of software. Experience leading a team of engineers to drive projects and programs. Experience building new instrumentation that tracks metrics as defined by business requirements. Experience supporting the implementation of business solutions, including developing technical features that improve data quality and page response time. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills. 

 

Salary Range: $184,827/year to $234,000/year.  Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.   Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
