Get to know our Team

Join the PayCore Settlement Platform team at Grab - a dynamic and fast-paced team building a reliable platform to address challenging problems in the Payments domain. We are a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, product managers, and operations who innovate and collaborate to solve one of the most challenging problems - enabling timely and accurate settlement to many merchants. This role prefers you have certain Payments domain expertise or demonstrate exceptional quick-learning skills.

 

Get to Know the Role

You will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining one of our Payments Core (PayCore) platforms which includes complex backend systems and data pipelines to meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

You will be contributing to our Operational Excellence and mentoring juniors in the team. You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager and work onsite at Grab India Office at Bangalore.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable software applications that meet business and non-functional requirementsWrite clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable code to solve challenging problems in the Fintech domainCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new featuresParticipate in code reviews to maintain code quality, ensure proper technical documentation, and facilitate knowledge sharingTroubleshoot and debug complex issues, providing timely fixes and implementing long-term sustainable solutionsContribute to architectural decisions and the technical direction of projectsEnsure system reliability and availability through strong observability practices and drive continuous improvements in Operational Excellence; participating in On-Call rotations is mandatoryProvide DevOps support to the team to ensure optimal system health and performanceMentor and guide junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvementStay current with emerging industry trends and technologies; leverage Generative AI tools to enhance productivity and improve system capabilities

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldStrong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures, with the ability to recognize when and how to apply them effectivelyStrong English communication skills (both spoken and written) and proven ability to collaborate effectivelyStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to address not only happy path scenarios but also handle edge cases and unhappy paths effectively5+ years of relevant software development experience with proficiency in one or more major programming languages such as Golang (preferred), Java, or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire necessary technical skillsSolid understanding of clean architecture principles, data-driven application design, and large-scale data processingProven experience building large-scale distributed systems utilizing DBMS, caching solutions, NoSQL databases, and application servers (RESTful and gRPC) while ensuring data consistencyHands-on experience with microservices architecture, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and DevOps practicesOperational and compliance excellence – proven ability to implement solutions that meet requirements for Observability, SLAs, Security, Data Governance, and Regulatory complianceAbility to write efficient, extensible, and thoroughly tested code for complex projects, selecting appropriate abstractions that adhere to SOLID principlesAbility to write effective design documents and maintain up-to-date documentation (e.g., runbooks)Demonstrated passion for learning new technologies and business domains, with experience applying Generative AI to enhance work productivity; experience in the Payments domain is a plus
