About the Team The **OCI MultiCloud (AWS)** team builds infrastructure and services that enable Oracle Cloud services to run and integrate seamlessly with AWS. The team works on distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, DevOps automation, and service reliability across cloud environments. As a manager, you will lead a local team of engineers responsible for building and operating cloud services end-to-end. Department Description Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure organization is building Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run mission-critical workloads on our cloud, and our mission is to provide best-in-class compute, storage, networking, security, and foundational cloud services. https://cloud.oracle.com/cloud-infrastructure Position Overview We are looking for a **Senior Software Development Manager** to lead a team of software engineers building and operating cloud services running on **OCI and AWS** . This is a **hands-on leadership role** , combining technical leadership with people management. You will be responsible for delivery, reliability, and long-term technical health of the services your team owns. You will work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and peer engineering managers to prioritize work, plan execution, and ensure high-quality outcomes. The role is approximately **50% technical leadership and delivery** and **50% people management** . Job Responsibilities + Lead and manage a team of ~8 software engineers + Own delivery, stability, and operational readiness of services built by your team + Partner with senior engineers on technical direction, architecture, and design reviews + Work with product and program managers on prioritization, planning, and execution + Ensure services meet reliability, scalability, and security expectations + Establish and track clear goals for individuals and the team + Drive hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development + Foster a high-performance, inclusive engineering culture aligned with OCI values + Improve engineering processes through automation, tooling, and operational best practices + Participate in incident reviews and support a culture of operational excellence Candidate Profile + 5+ years of people management experience leading software engineering teams + Strong technical background in **distributed systems and cloud services** + Experience building and operating services on **OCI, AWS, or other public clouds** + Solid understanding of **Java-based microservices, Kubernetes, and containerized systems** + Experience with **Terraform and infrastructure-as-code** + Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices + Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain strong engineering talent + Experience working with product and program managers in a delivery-focused environment + Strong communication skills, able to align technical and non-technical stakeholders + Comfortable operating in an environment with ambiguity and competing priorities Work arrangement: Hybrid model with 1 day per week in the office (Brno or Prague).
