Senior Software Developer

Job Description

Join our dynamic Digital Foundations team as a Senior Software Developer! Your role involves working with a proprietary platform to build data flows and use cases between operational technology and IT system layers. This position combines office work with customer site visits, applying software and data management expertise to deploy and support industrial automation solutions.

Responsibilities

Implement, integrate, and test data use cases with a focus on the our proprietary OT/IT platformDesign, configure, develop, and test purpose-built data solutions in collaboration with customers, involving both frontend and backend developmentWork independently or as part of a small team to develop customer requirements and design software solutionsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate our system with existing systems and applicationsTest software applications for on-premises, virtual, and cloud-based deploymentDevelop visualizations, dashboards, analytical equations, and advanced reportingLead project delivery, including technical implementations, testing, and documentation using both Waterfall and Agile methodsManage incident response and service requests, providing troubleshooting and support for software applicationsWork closely with IT professionals, engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, assess needs, and implement effective solutionsTravel to customer sites may be required, though most work will be executed from the office

Essential Skills

7+ years of programming experience in full stack or back end developmentProficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, C#, C++, or JavaExperience with microservices architecture or event-driven architectureAbility to learn independently and take on challenges

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with SQL or MongoDBProficiency in dashboarding and visualization tools like PowerBIExperience with operational technology or OPC protocolsExternal stakeholder experienceBachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experienceUnderstanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrent programming, and elements of operating systems designExperience with Industrial IoT products and solutionsFamiliarity with communication protocols such as OPC Classic & OPC UA, TCP, ModbusExperience with MQTTKnowledge of networks, databases, servers, communications, and information securityCertifications with Aspentech or similar platforms are advantageousExperience with Windows Server operating systemsStrong customer service skillsOrganizational and time management skills

Work Environment

Flexible work-from-home/hybrid policy with encouragement to work onsite 4-5 days per week. Flexible working hours with a typical 8-5 pm schedule, allowing adjustments for personal commitments. Rare travel to site required. Candidates located near a Spartan office in Calgary, Burnaby, Saskatoon, or Edmonton are preferred.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
