Position Summary

As a Senior Shopify Developer in our BUMP group, you will architect, build, and optimize high-performing Shopify storefronts and applications that power charitable lotteries and fundraising programs. You will own complex integrations, build scalable multi-tenant solutions, collaborate on cross-platform architecture, mentor team members, and contribute to our long-term technical roadmap.

 

Responsibilities

Design & Development

Lead end-to-end development of Shopify themes using Liquid, JSON templates, sections, and reusable componentsArchitect custom/private Shopify apps using Shopify Admin, Storefront, and GraphQL APIsWhere necessary, build hybrid and headless storefronts integrated with AWS-hosted BUMP microservicesCreate scalable solutions optimized for high-traffic draw days and national campaigns

Solution Architecture

Define integration patterns between Shopify and BUMP systems (payments, identity, CRM, ticket issuance)Create scalable data flows using MySQL, APIs, webhooks, and event-driven patternsCollaborate on architecture for large-scale lottery and charitable gaming initiatives

Security & Compliance

Apply OWASP security principles across the stackImplement hardened webhook verification, secure sessions, and secret managementSupport compliance workflows unique to regulated charitable gaming

Payments, POS & eCommerce

Integrate Shopify Payments and approved third-party processorsEnsure accurate financial reconciliation workflows and settlement reporting

DevOps, Observability & Support

Support the Bump DevOps team in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for theme and app deploymentsImplement observability across Shopify, Node/Laravel services, and front-end performance metricsProvide third-level technical support and lead root-cause investigations

Collaboration & Leadership

Partner with Design, Product, and Charity teams on UX and conversion optimizationMentor junior developers and contribute to coding standards and architectural reviews

 

Qualifications

Education and Knowledge

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field Knowledge and expertise in the following are required:Shopify theme architecture and app developmentLiquid, Shopify APIs (REST/GraphQL) with API-first mind-set for integrations and microservicesBuilding eCommerce, payment, or regulated platformsOWASP secure development practicesTest-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing frameworksShopify Hydrogen and Oxygen for custom storefrontsKnowledge and experience with the following are assets:PHP (Laravel) for building internal tools and servicesReact, Node.js, TypeScript, Docker, AWS, Azure DevOpsISO 27001:2022, PCI DSSShopify Partner Academy Certifications - e.g. Shopify Development Fundamentals, Theme Development, App Development

Experience

8+ years of software development experience with 3+ years of Shopify development

Technical Environment
