Senior Safety Specialist
Our client,is a luxury automobile manufacturer known for producing premium vehicles, including cars, trucks, and vans is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist to join their team. **Job Title: Senior Safety Specialist** **Location: Ann Arbor, MI** Summary of the Position: The Senior Safety Specialist plays a critical role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of advanced safety programs across the organization. This position reports to the Head of Workplace Services and serves as the primary SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) specialist for multiple R&D facilities, while also supporting the Experienced Safety Specialist and the broader Workplace Services team. The role involves working in varied environments including office settings, research laboratories, and automotive garages, with approximately 20% travel expected. Key Responsibilities: + Lead complex risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate safety risks. + Provide expert guidance on regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other local, state, and federal standards. + Design and implement tailored safety training programs across organizational levels. + Lead investigations of safety incidents, perform root cause analyses, and develop corrective actions. + Conduct and lead safety audits and inspections to evaluate protocols and practices. + Develop strategic safety initiatives to enhance performance and promote a proactive safety culture. + Use advanced data analytics to identify trends, drive improvements, and support decision-making. + Communicate safety policies and best practices effectively to employees and management. + Collect and report safety and hazardous materials data to state/federal regulators and to MBAG. + Maintain and update emergency response plans and site-specific procedures. + Provide technical SHE support for various projects and initiatives. + Handle additional safety and environmental compliance duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Sciences, or Engineering. + At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial operations with SHE involvement. + Deep knowledge of safety regulations and programs (OSHA, EPA, IIPP, SPCC, etc.). + Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. + Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders. + High attention to detail and accuracy. + Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software. + Ability to plan and prioritize tasks in an unstructured environment. + Willingness to work in both office and field settings, and respond to emergencies as needed. + Physical ability to lift/carry small parcels, walk short distances, and operate a vehicle.
