Senior Program/Policy Specialist

Description

•\tLead and/or conduct research to support decision making on policy and programs with emphasis on content development.

•\tAnalyze policy, emerging research and national trends regarding area(s) of expertise. Keep abreast of educational research, research practices and methods, and technological advances.

•\tPeruse, analyze, interpret and synthesize complex documents, research studies, and other scholarly materials.

•\tWrite articles, briefings, talking points, reports, and/or produce products that inform or persuade targeted or general audiences or promote actions in support of complex issues.

•\tServe as subject matter expert and information resource for leaders and staff as well as state and local affiliates. Provide strategic guidance to governance and affiliates on area of expertise. Provide training, consultation, guidance, professional expertise, or general information.

•\tForge productive working relationships with representatives of other organizations, including but not limited to education-related organizations including congressional offices, governors' offices, state legislators' offices, and Federal and State agencies.

•\tInitiate partnerships, collaborations, and programs that integrate subject area issues and strategic priorities. Work with partners from many constituencies to realize common educational goals and/or enhance agenda.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

•\tBachelors ideally within Social Science, Public Policy, Education, Political Science, Communications, Statistics, Economics, Law, Labor Relations or discipline related to the position under this job description, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be obtained.

•\tFive years experience in policy analysis and designing/managing national and/or state programs and projects related to the focus of the job. Extensive professional writing experience for research papers, informational pieces, articles, and professional publications.

•\tExperience in public speaking (including making presentations at meetings) and meeting planning (including program design and logistics).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $96000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
