Senior Program Manager, Fleet Capacity, Global Fleet & Products
Description Do you want to be part of the foundational team driving innovation and efficiency in Amazon's last mile fleet operations? The Fleet Operations and Capacity Management team is seeking a motivated Senior Program Manager to be a core member of the Variable Fleet team. In this role, you will manage end-to-end variable fleet capacity supply and execution during high-volume events across Amazon's U.S. and Canadian delivery network. As the Variable Fleet Capacity and Execution Senior Program Manager, you will serve as the Single Threaded Leader managing rental supply from Preferred Rental Providers (PRPs) and allocating vehicles to Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) through the Amazon Direct Rental (ADR) product. You will ensure vehicles are available at the right locations and times during both High Volume Events and throughout the year. Your role includes supporting the High Volume Event Tiger Team to secure adequate rental capacity during peak seasons while developing strategies to optimize fleet utilization year-round. This position requires data-driven decision-making to balance supply constraints with operational demands across Amazon's delivery network. Key job responsibilities - Manage rental supply from Preferred Rental Providers (PRPs), securing 50K+ vehicles during peak seasons through the Amazon Direct Rental (ADR) product - Lead capacity planning and execution for variable fleet operations, ensuring optimal vehicle allocation to Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) at the right place and time - Serve as Single Threaded Leader for High Volume Event (HVE) Tiger Team initiatives, managing day-to-day execution of multi-station operations and pop-up/pop-in delivery stations - Drive VIN-level visibility and tracking to ensure on-time delivery execution across the network - Manage long-term rental fleet operations with focus on supply utilization, ensuring vehicles are used when needed throughout the year - Negotiate and manage third-party rental partnerships to secure adequate capacity during peak and year-round operations - Own financial analysis and budget tracking for variable fleet programs, making data-driven decisions to optimize costs - Develop strategies to improve fleet utilization, increase acceptance rates at station and DSP levels, and balance supply constraints with operational demands - Serve as escalation point for DSP-related issues concerning Amazon Direct Rental vehicles, demonstrating strong communication skills and knowing when to escalate appropriately - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast delivery capacity needs and implement process improvements that drive operational excellence This role combines strategic planning with tactical execution, requiring exceptional program management skills, strong ownership, bias for action, and backbone to deliver results. You will directly impact customer experience by ensuring our delivery network maintains capacity during periods of high demand. A day in the life As Variable Fleet Capacity Senior Program Manager, you balance strategic planning with tactical execution. Your day involves monitoring fleet allocation metrics, addressing DSP escalations, and collaborating with the High Volume Event Tiger Team. You analyze acceptance rate data, optimize vehicle distribution across stations, and maintain relationships with Preferred Rental Providers to adjust supply based on forecasted demand. Through data-driven decision-making, you develop recommendations that improve fleet utilization and ensure delivery capacity meets customer demands during both peak seasons and regular operations. About the team The Variable Fleet (VF) team secures third-party rental vehicles for Amazon's Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) at optimal locations, times, and costs. Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of program or project management experience - Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements - Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership - Experience in capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or equivalent - Experience managing and negotiating contracts and vendor relationships Preferred Qualifications - Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis - Experience in a fast-paced, high-tech company, or experience completing complex tasks quickly with little to no guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround - Experience in transportation operations and industry knowledge - 2+ years of driving process improvements experience - Master's degree, or MBA in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field - Experience managing multi-station operations or delivery networks Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
