Job Description

NBCUniversal News Group is seeking a Senior Producer to lead, manage, and evolve a talent development program designed to support the growth, readiness, and excellence of our reporters, correspondents and anchors across all platforms. This includes skill advancement in writing, live reporting, breaking news, script tracking, studio presentation, and digital journalism.

The ideal candidate is someone who has produced first-rate journalism both in the field and in the studio, with a proven record of strong editorial judgment and production excellence.

This role will partner across NBCU News Group, including our Owned and Operated Stations; partner with NBCU Academy to design training modules that help grow and develop best in class on-air teams.  This person would also partner closely with editorial and talent leadership to ensure our on-air teams continue get feedback, career pathing discussions and learning opportunities to deliver the highest standards of journalism.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the day-to-day management of the On-Air Talent Development.Design, plan, and maintain an annual curriculum of Master Class modules, including script writing, live shot performance, studio delivery, reporting craft and digital writing. Parlay into NBCU Academy platform with Academy team.Build a partnership with our local owned and operated stations to find consistent approaches to on-air talent development.Partner with News Group leadership to ensure learning opportunities and training align with editorial priorities and newsroom standards.Co-create training content, resources, and development tools for talent of all levels and experience in collaboration with NBCU Academy.Organize targeted coaching, including writing mentors, voice training and live-shot simulations.Collaborate with editorial (on air and digital) teams, bureau and show producers, Human Resources, standards & practices.Build strong relationships with newsroom leaders across platforms.

Qualifications15+ years of experience in a newsroom, production, editorial leadership, or equivalent role producing journalism at the highest level.Proven success as a Senior Producer in both studio and field environments, with demonstrated excellence in working with talent on live, taped, breaking news, and feature reporting.A strong reputation for editorial excellence, production craft, and the ability to elevate on-air talent.Deep expertise in news writing, editorial decision-making, production value, and on-air craft.Strong understanding of live news, breaking news workflows, and field/studio operations.Experience giving nuanced, constructive editorial feedback and coaching performance effectively.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience leading talent development, coaching initiatives, training programs, or newsroom development efforts.Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills.Highly collaborative approach and a deep commitment to journalistic excellence.

Additional Requirements:

Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
