**We are seeking either a Principal Systems Engineer or Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our Phoenix program. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA.**
**Core responsibilities:**
+ Refine software architectures & design software capabilities
+ Create requirements for software capabilities and trace back to higher level system requirements
+ Apply knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
+ Participate in all aspects of Systems Engineering throughout the full program lifecycle (concept definition, design, and test), using model based systems engineering (MBSE) methods
+ Assist with definition of high level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, and integration
+ Partner with subject matter experts and technology experts to execute the systems engineering statement of work
_This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below._
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ **Principal Systems Engineer** : 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in STEM; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's' in STEM; 0 years of relevant experience with a PhD
+ **Senior Principal Systems Engineer:** 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in STEM; 6 years of relevant experience with a Master's' in STEM; 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
+ Top Secret clearance required at the time of application, and the ability to obtain SCI
+ Proven experience in generating requirements and tracing between levels of requirements
+ Ability to create use cases with Subject Matter Experts with little guidance
+ General understanding of software development (i.e. inputs/outputs, edge cases, unit test, feature testing, automated testing)
+ Experience with assigning verification methods and test procedure generation
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Comfortable with Agile Tools such as Jira & Confluence
+ Mission planning experience
+ Background in software development and software architecture
+ Experience in space domain
+ Able to organize and present information from Powerpoint to medium to large audiences
Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
