YOUR IMPACT

Sr. Principal Software Engineer main role is to provide expertise in all levels of design and development in software application development across multiple projects. He must take into consideration the framework needs, security, network intricacies and scalability. He is expected to serve as the team’s subject matter expert in most areas of development. Sr. Principal Software Engineer organizes the efforts of application development including technical project management.

Act as the key resource for setting technical directions defining and deploying solid engineering practices, coaching and mentoring other engineers and qualifying engineering project plansPrepare, review and approve the solution, integration, physical, security designs of the projectInteract with the cross-functional teamsProvide project estimatesPrepare, review and/or approve project software requirements, specifications and other artifacts (Software Design Document, Entity Relationship Diagram, etc.)Lead in the preparation of Technical Architecture DocumentsIdentify risks and risk mitigation strategies associated with the architectureConduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standard in support of procurement and development effortsRecommend and implement software upgrades, tools and techniques Code software programs and applications according to specificationsCode review and ensure code quality throughout application life cycle.Implement process improvements Analyze data from software analysis tools for the purpose of correcting errors, isolating areas for project improvementGenerate statistics and prepare reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming processTroubleshoot cross-component/technology issues in areas of expertiseProvide support to multiple projectsProvide production support as neededEngage in project level planning/project management

15+ years of relevant experience with expert level professional/technical skills.Complete understanding of software development life cycle using various methodologiesExpert in implementing (coding & unit testing) detailed design into application functionalities using Java/JEE as the primary development language. Expert in JEE Web Services Technologies: e.g., JAXB, Java APIs for XML MessagingExperience in designing of end to end solution by using any of the following object oriented design, SOA, Domain Driven, etc.Should be proficient in the following:

 

    Distributed and multi-threaded systems on a relational database.    Micro-services and distributed service-oriented architectures    Design and implementation of REST APIs.    Developing on a modern front-end framework    Using a test-driven approach to writing codeAccomplished to master level in knowledge and experience for the following:Design PatternsFramework (Spring, Hibernate, etc.)JEE (Java Platform, Enterprise Edition)

Compensation: At OpenText, we offer a thoughtfully designed benefits package that supports your physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. As you move through the hiring process, we’re happy to provide more details about our compensation programs, including variable and commission compensation opportunities for eligible roles, vacation entitlement, and paid time off.

Salary Range: $175,000 - $215,000; Depending on the candidate’s education, experience, skills, geographical location, and alignment with internal equity and external market, actual salary may vary and be higher or lower than the range posted.

California Residents: The pay range above is a reasonable estimate of salary based on pay scale, candidate experience, skills, and education. In addition to the comprehensive benefits noted above, the role may be eligible for bonus or commissions.
