Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/innovative-medicine **We are searching for the best talent for a** **Senior Principal Operational Scientist – Aging & Metabolism** **to be in Cambridge, MA or Spring House, PA.** **Purpose:** The Senior Principal Operational Scientist will provide scientific leadership and hands‑on support for translational research in thrombosis, sarcopenia, and cardiometabolic diseases, while also delivering key operational support. This hybrid role combines scientific responsibilities (in vivo and in vitro work) with operational functions, including project management, coordination of contracting, and administrative and laboratory support. The position requires integrating cardiopulmonary disease mechanisms, aging biology, and metabolic dysfunction while ensuring smooth execution across a cross‑functional research portfolio. **You will be responsible for** **:** **Scientific and Strategic (~50%)** + Lead and provide expertise in in vitro and in vivo studies supporting cardiometabolic and cardiopulmonary research. + Contribute to target identification, validation, and preclinical strategy development in areas such as HFpEF, Group 2 PH, vascular dysfunction, thrombosis, and age‑related muscle loss and weakness. + Partner with disease area leaders and project teams to develop mechanistic hypotheses and experimental plans aligned with Cardiopulmonary priorities. + Uphold strong scientific standards through rigorous data interpretation, clear internal communication, and contributions to publications and presentations. **Project Management, Coordination, and Administrative (~50%)** + Support project management for aging‑focused cardiopulmonary programs, ensuring clear milestones, timelines, and decision points. + Prepare and maintain project documentation, including development plans, data packages, governance materials, and decision‑support documents. + Organize and support internal and external meetings by preparing agendas, documenting outcomes, and ensuring timely follow‑up on action items. **Qualifications / Requirements:** **Education:** + Bachelor’s degree is required + Master’s degree or PhD is highly preferred **Required:** + Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience working in muscle biology, cardiovascular, and metabolism in the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry (which can include education) + Strong scientific background in biology (e.g., aging, metabolism, cardiopulmonary, muscle biology) or in chemistry/biologics. + Experience contributing scientifically to drug discovery or translational programs in cardiometabolic, cardiovascular, or muscle‑related disease. + Demonstrated experience working in cross‑functional, matrixed research teams. + Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. + Travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international), defined by business needs. The anticipated base pay range for this position in the US is $137,000 to $235,750. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
