Northrop Grumman has an opening for a Senior Principal Cost Estimating Analyst to join our Strike team of qualified, diverse individuals. The Production Operations Estimating / Functional Estimating organization utilizes specialized analysts whose skills are balanced across interpersonal, business, and proposal-based capabilities, are committed to ethics and integrity, and have the capability to innovate in a challenging and dynamic environment. Our estimators have backgrounds in manufacturing and production, high end analytical skills, and experience writing compliant, coherent, and defendable BOEs (Basis of Estimates) for proposals and captures. This unique skill set is required due to the need to convert limited information into a cohesive estimate – sometimes with no actual design data to go by. All analysts within this group vary in experience but are subject matter experts within operations estimating. This position will be located on site in Palmdale, CA.
Level 4 analysts are expected to develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation and review available data using existing models. Estimators at this level must be able to perform independently without appreciable direction, including determining the proper approaches to an assignment. They are also expected to have the ability to design and create estimating models based on available information and, once complete, communicate effectively to present technical approaches and findings to both technical and non-technical individuals at all levels of leadership in preparation for submission to the Program (via presentation) for inclusion in the Pricing Volume of the Proposal.
Essential Functions & Skills:
Perform estimating duties and analysis in accordance with recognized industry best practices, specific solicitation, and customer requirements, and in full compliance with USG regulatory requirements (FAR, DFARS), and Northrop Grumman procedures Develop high-quality and compliant BOEs (Basis of Estimates) in the BOE toolExcellent skills in critical thinking and problem solvingAnalyze specifications such as: sketches, blueprints, Bills of Material (BOMs), manufacturing/implementation plans, or sample layouts, and estimate the required manufacturing, production, and support laborEstimating methodology varies by project and may include but is not limited to use of: parametrics, standards, and historical dataUse of existing tools (ex: MES, SAP, CPLM, etc.) and models to gather data, perform estimates, and submit deliverablesCreate models and analyze existing and new factors for inclusion in the estimating approachPrepare and maintain data for estimate backupStrong attention to detail, as this position requires processing large amounts of dataAbility to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projectsAbility to work on a team and build cross-functional (both technical and non-technical) relationships with customers and colleagues to ensure successAbility to successfully communicate across functions and leadership levels, including Executives, to present estimates and recommendationsSupport both pre-award and post-award estimating activities in support of program needs.Support Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) Proposal and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Audits as requiredBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant Aerospace experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant Aerospace experienceMust have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Must have the ability to obtain and maintain the Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment.Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing and production operations functions, tasks, and processes, including in-depth understanding of Manufacturing and Support Labor and how they interactAbility to successfully develop and present analyses to technical and non-technical functions at all levels of management, including executivesExperience with DoD proposals, including development of compliant Basis of Estimate (BOE)Working knowledge of basic cost/pricing concepts (Elements of Cost, CERs, etc.)Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and WordOtherAbility to travel as needed - 25%-50% at first, possibly reducing over timeAbility to work onsite daily in Palmdale, CAPreferred Qualifications:

Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
