As a Senior Principal Architect on JPMorganChase Global Technology’s Enterprise Architecture team, you will help shape, lead adoption, and operate the firm’s Cloud Infrastructure domain. You will provide specialized expertise to influence the target state architecture and strategy of the domain, and work across teams to educate and build consensus to drive domain strategies. You will lead the Cloud Infrastructure domain’s architecture review boards in evaluating, adjudicating, onboarding, and adopting technologies to be used by platform engineering and development teams to compose their business systems. You will advise, inform, and assist on decisions about the strategy, roadmaps, operationalization, and productization of those technologies that will be scaled and made available firmwide. Cloud infrastructure includes Storage, Compute, Networking, Virtualization, Containerization, API management, and Middleware (Messaging, Streaming, Service Mesh, Packaged Webstack, etc.).
Responsibilities
Advise and influence portfolio owners and operate architecture review boards on developing and maintaining IT Infrastructure tools across a large enterprise, including selection, integration, and retirement; includes stakeholders of varying degrees of technical or business orientationServe as a subject matter expert on IT Infrastructure at JPMC, with special emphasis on delivering technology capabilities and managing sprawl in priority areas such as Application Infrastructure, Hosting, Networking, Application Integration, Hyperconverged InfrastructureTranslates highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to leadership to drive the firm’s IT Infrastructure technology strategy and enable leaders and technology requestors from solution teams to make strategic, well-informed decisions about target state offerings and solution architectureDevelop and maintain technology strategy and roadmaps, advise on lifecycle management, and identify opportunities for consolidation, modernization, and cost optimizationDesign scalable and secure architectures, establish standards and best practices, and ensure compliance and governance with policiesCommunicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, influence technology decisions, and facilitate workshopsAssess technology risks and recommend mitigation strategies and contingency plansEvaluate emerging technologies and vendors, and lead proof-of-concept initiativesAdvise on budgeting and financial impact, and identify cost savings opportunities
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
Significant applied experience in cloud infrastructure and software engineeringDeep knowledge of infrastructure domains: compute, storage, networking, cloud, virtualization, securityExtensive practical cloud-native, on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud experiencePractical experience delivering shared platform design, development, testing, and operational stability to large scale consumer populationsProduction service delivery expertise in one or more programming language(s)Proven track record in designing and managing large-scale infrastructure environmentsAbility to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best technology solutions and approaches to fulfill business goals and achieve the future state architecturePreferred Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise
Formal training or certification on infrastructure and software engineering conceptsRelevant Architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Architect, ITIL, CISSP, PMP)Proven experience communicating and driving change across architecture disciplines (business, information, tech, data, application)Expertise in “Infrastructure as Code” provisioning, automation and policy enforcement frameworks (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, Open Policy Agent/OPA/Rego, etc.)Cell architecture and how to construct boundaries through existing capabilities like VPC Service Controls in GCP or SCP's and network controls in AWSDeep understanding of the niche and overlapping capabilities within the different cloud providers like cloud run vs aws lambda, or spanner vs RDS and how they can be architected appropriately for resiliency and securityDeep understanding of network capabilities that exist within the different cloud providers and how they may be used to govern complex transit in regulated spaces, support compliance frameworks like HIPAA & PCI which includes building patterns and designs for low latency applications across multiple application portfolios
