ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.
+ Performs complex duties in the repair, maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices in state buildings.
+ Recommends energy-saving changes.
+ Installs, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler systems and irrigation systems.
+ Oversees the operation of steam boiler plants.
+ Works with engineers/contractors on new system design, troubleshooting, testing, and startup of new systems.
+ Works carefully to follow all current Plumbing Codes/regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to those with a Journeyman Plumber license plus licensed backflow prevention testing and fire sprinkler system experience
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Thorough knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repairs
+ Knowledge of State and Local plumbing codes.
+ Knowledge of multiple source heating & hydronic systems and applications.
+ Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used inthe installation, monitoring, and repair of plumbing equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Ability to lift 50 pounds.
+ Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
+ Ability to work in tight, confined spaces
+ Ability to work comfortably at a variety of heights
+ Ability to walk great distances throughout the facility
