The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the design, build, automation, and lifecycle management of our Kubernetes-based platform (Red Hat OpenShift) supporting advanced collection systems deployed to secure customer environments. This role owns the container platform as a product—designing resilient architectures, automating infrastructure and application delivery, and driving modernization across physical and virtualized deployments.
Responsibilities:
Architect, deploy, and manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters in secure environments
Own cluster lifecycle management (installation, upgrades, scaling, patching, backup/recovery)
Design for high availability, performance, and security compliance
Implement and manage cluster networking, storage, ingress, and operators
Design and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for platform and application layers
Automate provisioning using tools such as Puppet, Ansible, or similar
Implement CI/CD workflows for cluster and application deployments
Lead migration efforts (e.g., RHEL7 to RHEL9)
Maintain representative lab systems mirroring production deployments
Provide expert-level troubleshooting across Linux, Kubernetes, networking, and container stacks
Mentor junior engineers and establish platform standards and best practices
Qualifications:
Required:
Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
10+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Systems Administration
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or higher)
Strong expertise with Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift (build, deploy, operate)
Deep Linux administration experience (RHEL preferred) including security hardening and automation
Experience with Puppet or other configuration management tools
Experience designing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code
Experience containerizing applications and managing container registries
Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, networking, and container layers
Experience operating in secure or air-gapped environments
Desired:
Experience operating OpenShift in disconnected or classified environments
CI/CD pipeline design and automation experience
Experience with RPM packaging (spec files, Koji, Tito)
Familiarity with Cisco IOS / NXOS
Experience working in Agile environments

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
