The Sr. Payroll Garnishment Specialist is responsible for providing consulting and operational support to employees regarding garnishments and court orders. The Specialist works with our 3rd party vendor to ensure all garnishments are received and processed according to existing laws and regulations.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Ensure the accuracy of employee garnishment deductions across the organization
+ Partner with 3rd Party vendor setting up new, modified and released garnishments
+ Research and resolve complex garnishment-related issues while working directly with affected employees (this would include access to ServiceNow)
+ Provide subject matter expertise and assist in the implementation of new internal processes and technology enhancements
+ Create and document new processes as needed; make changes to existing SOP's as processes are updated
+ Research errors, determine root cause and make recommendations for on-going process improvements
+ Use knowledge and judgment to troubleshoot issues and problemsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees
+ Collaborate with Payroll Operations, Payroll Systems, Legal in the support of garnishment administration
+ Maintain effective relationships with key internal and external customers and vendors
+ Assist with GL account reconciliations
+ Other projects assigned
+ Review of incoming garnishment documents to confirm the correct and valid UnitedHealth Group (UHG) subsidiary company is clearly identified in the order. Prepare eligible garnishment documents in accordance with established procedures for Bulk Upload submission to the 3rd party garnishment vendor
+ Escalate incomplete, invalid, or unclear garnishment orders to the appropriate internal teams or request clarification as needed
+ Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local garnishment regulations and internal UHG policies
+ On payroll Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, review garnishment releases and modifications to identify potential refunds. Determine refund validity and, when applicable, record the items on the bi‑weekly hold spreadsheet
+ As required, respond to and provide information requested by third‑party vendors
+ Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
**Required Qualifications:**
+ BA or BS/ High school or equivalent
+ 2+ years in Payroll, with garnishment experience
+ Solid knowledge of payroll tools (HelpDesk, Oracle HCM and Labor, MS Excel, , etc.); ability to learn new systems/applications
+ Proven ability to analyze data and recognize specific opportunities for improvement
+ Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with hard deadlines simultaneously
+ Proven ability to meet strict deadlines
+ Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Proven attention to detail
+ Overtime may be required
**Preferred Qualification:**
+ Working knowledge of the garnishment process
