The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior (Level 4) or Principal (Level 5) Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer to join our team in Long Beach, CA.

The team’s mission is to align and integrate safety, security, operational and regulatory strategies enterprise wide to ensure our products and services adapt to a changing regulatory environment and champion strategic emerging technology initiatives with governments, regulators, and industry.

This team is responsible for partnering with enterprise-wide teams to develop and execute regulatory strategies for global mandates and other significant regulatory issues that affect Boeing’s products and services.

As part of an agile, empowered team, this candidate will act as a key resource to help Boeing and subsidiary teams pioneer and execute regulatory innovation and certification projects.  The selected candidate will have the opportunity to grow their knowledge and expertise of the global regulatory ecosystem while also building relationships with internal and external key stakeholders.

Primary responsibilities:

Evaluates customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfacesDevelops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processesResolves cross-functional technical issuesMaintains situational awareness of the overall program and critical path sequencingProactively communicates with various leadership team/s, peers and customersOversees reviews of regulatory and customer requirements and evaluation of impact to company products and servicesLeads the review of highly complex regulatory and certification technical data for completeness and alignment to applicable regulatory and contractual requirementsOversees development of a compliance statement for the airworthiness of aerospace systems and products.Leads system research and analysis to identify potential fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantifies impact.Leads identifying safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using industry best practices.Leads collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporates into designs, operations, and procedures.Leads, influences or reviews tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements.Leads creation of aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.Leads documentation of complex safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.Develops safety plan strategies and coordinates safety and corrective action plans with programs.Demonstrates safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to the customer and regulators.Leads ensuring mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle.Establishes global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.​

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer scienceLevel 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceLevel 5: 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience9+ years of experience in engineeringExperience with regulatory agencies' procedures and processCritical thinking, problem solving, change management, project management, influencing without authority, & consultationAbility to communicate concisely in writing, verbally, one-on-one, in small groups, and to large audiencesExperience managing, developing, motivating and communicating responsibilities to team members

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

Knowledge of integration, verification, and certification processesKnowledge of Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) and Airworthiness Directives (ADs)Experience in FAA certificationExperience leading multi-disciplinary teams to meet aggressive schedulesExperience leading or managing projects and/or teamsExperience leading a large project or program which required the use of project management tools and processesExperience with the operation of aircraft systems and knowledge of aircraft performance in one or more of the following areas: aerodynamics, stability and control, propulsion, structures, and mission systemsExperience with planning project budgets and monitoring financial performance

Summary Pay Range:

Senior (Level 4): $141,100.00 - $190,900.00Senior (Level 5): $170,850.00 - $231,150.00
