The Senior Network Planning Engineer will be responsible for managing, analyzing and creating financial models for our 1G circuit reterms, carrier conversions and our 1G to 10G mobility backhaul programs. They will lead the data and financial modeling and categorization of over 40k third party circuits in the network to help drive the most valuable action plan for that circuit to achieve improved network performance while also reducing third party access spend. The Senior Network Planning engineer will also oversee potential early termination penalties and current spend validations.

The Senior Network Planning Engineer will manage the last look financial modeling which will allow us to stay compliant with our MSA with a large ILEC.  Lastly, they will use output data to optimize the implementation strategy to achieve the organization’s yearly initiative savings goals and allowing the corporation to meet its overall financial targets.

Overall Purpose: This career step requires intermediate level experience. Designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components and architecture in support of the wireless and wireline infrastructure. May provide mid to long term planning for a specific technology which includes analysis, solution recommendations, and implementation strategies to complex business issues consistent with business goals and economic viability. These activities are the basis for capital deployment and allocation decisions.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

-Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods. May conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Studies and forecasts traffic drivers to determine short and/or long term capacity needs for wireless and wireline infrastructure.

-May include all or some of the following functions: Recommends network architecture planning and network evolution strategy in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria; Evaluates new and emerging technologies for addition and/or application of software/hardware to existing network systems; Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections; Develops simulation models and systems/information technologies for capturing system/network process data.

- Creates deliverables such as mgmt reports, business cases, infrastructure deployment guidelines, 3 Year Plans, Plans of Record, Project Approval Letters, and Serving Plans; Works with key internal stakeholder and vendors as a point of contact for future business ventures and emerging services.

Job Contribution:

Intermediate level technical professional. Subject matter technical knowledge within a discipline and sound understanding of ATT technologies.

Education:

Typically a Bachelors degree in Math, Science or Engineering preferred or equivalent related network experience. E

Experience: Typically requires 3-5 years experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.


Skills Set Needed:

1.    Network Architecture (wireline and mobility)
2.    Good communicator, both oral and written, to project manage our optimization and disconnect program with cross functional teams
3.    Data and financial modeling, data analytics, implementation strategies to optimize our program potential, including the use of SQL, DEEP, and Power BI
4.    Project management skills to ensure deadlines are met or beaten
5.    MS Excel to do comparative analysis, MS PowerPoint to deliver project status and initiative results to senior leadership.

This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.

Our Senior Network Planning Eng, earns between $105,600.00-$158,400.00 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
