Current Need

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our Network Services team, focused on remote site networking across hospitals, clinics, and office locations. This role is responsible for the implementation, operation, optimization, and troubleshooting of WAN, LAN, wireless, and structured cabling environments that support clinical and business operations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with strong operational discipline who can execute network designs at scale, maintain stability in 24x7 environments, and partner effectively with architects, operations, vendors, and field teams.

Position Summary

The Senior Network Engineer – Remote Sites is responsible for the day-to-day engineering, support, and continuous improvement of network infrastructure across geographically distributed healthcare facilities. This includes WAN connectivity, campus LANs, enterprise wireless networks, and structured cabling systems.
This role works closely with Network Architects to implement approved designs and standards, serves as a senior escalation point for complex issues, and ensures remote site networks meet performance, security, and availability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Implement, operate, and support WAN, LAN, and wireless networks across hospitals, clinics, and office locationsExecute network designs and standards defined by Network ArchitectureServe as a senior escalation point for complex remote site network incidents and outagesConfigure, deploy, and maintain routers, switches, wireless controllers, access points, and edge devicesSupport and optimize enterprise wireless environments using Cisco and Aruba platformsDesign, deploy, and support structured cabling systems, including MDF/IDF layouts, copper and fiber standards, and documentationCoordinate with vendors, contractors, and field services for site turn-ups, moves, adds, and changesParticipate in WAN circuit provisioning, testing, and troubleshooting with telecom providersPerform risk assessments and participate in change management and CAB processesSupport network-related projects, site expansions, and technology refresh initiativesCreate and maintain build documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooksCollaborate with security, server, voice, and clinical application teams to ensure integrated solutionsMentor junior engineers and contribute to team standards and best practices

Critical Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience with Cisco and Aruba LAN and wireless platformsExperience supporting enterprise WAN connectivity, including edge routing and provider handoffsAdvanced knowledge of switching and routing fundamentals, including VLANs, trunking, and dynamic routingExperience configuring and supporting enterprise wireless networks (RF design, AP placement, troubleshooting)Working knowledge of SD-WAN concepts and remote site connectivity modelsExperience with structured cabling, including copper and fiber standards, labeling, and documentationAbility to troubleshoot complex connectivity issues across WAN, LAN, and wireless layersExperience supporting high-availability network designs in clinical and business environmentsStrong familiarity with SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, packet captures, and network monitoring toolsAbility to operate effectively under pressure and prioritize work based on incident severityStrong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Experience with WAN circuit provisioning, carrier coordination, and multi-provider environmentsExperience configuring and troubleshooting QoS for WAN and LAN networksFamiliarity with firewalls and network security controls at remote sitesDemonstrated experience using advanced troubleshooting tools with awareness of production impactWorking knowledge of Windows and UNIX/Linux networking technologiesStrong documentation and communication skills, including interaction with non-technical stakeholdersAbility to work effectively in a complex, matrixed healthcare organization

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field7+ years of experience supporting enterprise WAN, LAN, and wireless networksProven experience supporting distributed, multi-site environments (hospitals, clinics, offices, or campuses)Strong hands-on background in enterprise networking and operational support

Certifications (Preferred)

CCNP (Enterprise or Wireless) preferredAruba certifications (ACNP / ACMP) a plus
