**Job Description**
Oracle is hiring a senior developer with 4 or more years of industry experience to do advanced development for Release Intelligence in Apex, PL/SQL, Javascript/CSS and Python. Hired candidate will have some experience in analytics and reporting, UI development, scripting in python and shell scripts, as well as asynchronous job creation and troubleshooting.
Under broad direction, the candidate will gather requirements for new or existing applications and design and develop software to those requirements. They will deliver high-quality, large-scale projects that can be successfully used by customers.
Candidate should have a BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience. They should be used to working with tight timelines on extremely complex problems and be able to model applications using best engineering practices. This includes clarity and completeness of specs and designs, code cleanliness and quality, thoroughness of testing, attention to documentation, and response to bugs and regressions. Candidate should have the ability to take feature/design through software lifecycle to release of robust, high-quality, production code.
Candidate is expected to exhibit effective teamwork with senior developers and senior management within Database Development and be the technical “go-to person” (consultant) for his/her area within their group and across Database Product Development. They should be able to influence the technical decisions of less experienced developers and successfully communicate ideas, concepts and issues to their peers and management.
Technical skills: The candidate is required to have at least 2 years of web development experience with a RDBMS backend. Strong knowledge of RDBMS concepts, PL/SQL, data modeling and query optimization is a must. Expertise in one or more scripting languages such as python or shell is a must. Some knowledge of web hosting servers such as OHS/Apache Tomcat/Jetty will be a plus. Oracle APEX based web development experience strongly preferred, but not mandatory. Exposure to Release Management concepts is highly desirable.
**Responsibilities**
Build Release Intelligence Applications, Jobs and Reports that use analytics on current and historic data to aid intelligent decision making for release management of Database releases and improve software delivery of Database Products.
Participate in requirements gathering and requirements definition with Release Managers and Senior Database managers and document the requirements.
Design, develop, triage and resolve issues for above mentioned applications and provide technical guidance to less experienced members in the team from time to time. Requires ability to learn quickly and deliver under tight timelines.
