Job Description:
Payments Investigations:
Lead and manage a team of 65+ Payment Professional in Canada, Singapore and India responsible for global investigations for incoming and outgoing SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 (MX) messages (e.g., MT103, MT202 COV, pacs.008).Oversee resolution of exceptions, returns, NACKs, and claims (e.g., fraud, duplicate payments, recall requests) in compliance with SWIFT, AML, and bank policy.Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement remediation for recurring payment issues or client-impacting errors.Help Desk Operations:
Manage 24/6 support model for SWIFT-related inquiries from clients, internal desks, and FI correspondents.Ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) are met and high client satisfaction maintained.Lead escalation protocols, issue triage, and provide senior-level support for complex or high-value issues.Leadership & Strategy:
Define KPIs and operational performance metrics for help desk and investigations teams.Develop and execute team strategies aligned with global payment modernization initiatives (ISO 20022, CBPR+, etc.).Hire, mentor, and develop staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and client-first mindset.Work with larger GPDO team, including Deposit Operations, Wire Payment Operations, Sanction Transaction Group, Senior Industry Leads, Payment Controls Team (Lynx FMI , Payments Canada, Bank of Canada) Payments Risk and Compliance to create and develop strategies around Employee experience, Client Experience and Shareholder value.Risk, Controls & Governance:
Ensure controls are in place and effective to mitigate operational, regulatory, and reputational risk.Serve as key liaison for audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries (e.g., SWIFT CSP, MAS, OSFI, FINTRAC, OCC, FED).Contribute to policies and procedures for payment exception handling and customer complaint resolution.Collaboration & Transformation:
Partner with product, technology, sanctions compliance, AML, and operations teams to enhance automation and exception resolution flows.Provide SME input into payment system upgrades, platform migrations, or process reengineering projects (e.g., AI case triage, RPA).Represent the firm in external SWIFT forums or industry working groups as needed.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional designation (e.g., CAMS, ACAMS, CTP, PMP) is a strong asset.5-10+ years of experience in global payments operations, with direct leadership of SWIFT investigations or client services.Deep knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards (MT and ISO 20022), correspondent banking, and cross-border wire processing.Familiarity with AML/sanctions screening and payment compliance procedures.Experience managing operational teams, setting KPIs, and leading through change in a high-pressure environment.Strong communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.Experience with case management platforms (e.g., Intellitracs, PMG, SWIFT GPI etc) is an asset.Strong analytical mindset, with ability to interpret data and identify trends or process bottlenecks.Preferred Experience:
Experience in a G-SIB, global transaction bank, or high-volume FI payments hub.Exposure to Fedwire, CHIPS, LYNX, TARGET2, or other real-time gross settlement (RTGS) systems.Familiarity with SWIFT gpi, Universal Confirmations, and case resolution standards (CAMT messages).Who We Are:
