Senior Manager–Trade Compliance
Job Description
**Job Scope:**
+ Lead customs compliance and trade control operations including export control for Renesas India (REIN), ensuring robust processes and regulatory adherence.
+ Drive strategic initiatives for compliance framework development and manage high-level stakeholder engagement.
+ Support the business operations of Renesas India (REIN) by providing expert guidance on trade compliance and related legal matters, enabling smooth and compliant business activities.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Oversee customs compliance for all import activities, including valuation, classification, and documentation.
+ Develop and implement compliance strategies aligned with global standards.
+ Establish and lead the export control framework for India, including policy development, process implementation, and training.
+ Ensure compliance with U.S. re-export regulations and other relevant jurisdictions.
+ Manage relationships with customs authorities, external consultants, and internal stakeholders.
+ Provide guidance and training to internal teams on compliance requirements.
+ Prepare reports for audits and senior management reviews.
+ Advise business teams on licenses, registrations, and certifications required for operations, and liaise with relevant authorities to support legal and regulatory matters—including assessing eligibility, managing applications and approvals, and post-approval compliance.
+ Collaborate with Corporate Legal to resolve legal matters for Renesas India, providing support and coordination as needed to ensure effective handling of legal issues.
Qualifications
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Supply Chain, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
+ In-depth knowledge of Indian trade regulations and corporate registration as following (but not limited to):
+ DSIR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research) Certification – Company registration to cover R&D activity
+ EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) Certification – Mandatory Regulatory Requirement
+ STPI (Software Technology Parks of India)
+ Environmental NOC
+ EPR Certificate (High Attention by Customs)
+ R&D Certificate (Company fundamental status)
+ NOC or exemption certificate
+ **Advanced understanding of export control requirements in India, including DGFT notifications, company policy, and U.S. re-export regulations.**
+ Strong understanding of Japanese FEFTA and U.S. EAR regulations.
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
+ Experience with SAP GTS or similar compliance tools preferred.
**Preferred Experience:**
+ Minimum 15 years in trade compliance or customs operations, with leadership experience.
+ Semiconductor or technology industry background is a plus.
