As the Senior Manager, Software Engineering – Network & DDI, you will lead Walmart’s transformation toward an intelligent, automated, and software-defined network infrastructure.
You’ll be responsible for designing and scaling next-generation network automation, orchestration, and DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) services — ensuring the global network is reliable, secure, programmable, and built for agility. This role demands a strategic yet hands-on engineering leader with deep technical expertise in both network systems and software development.
What You’ll Do
Lead Network Automation & Software Engineering
Define Walmart’s Network & DDI modernization strategy, evolving traditional network services into programmable, cloud-native platforms.
Lead design and development of automation frameworks and APIs to enable self-service provisioning, orchestration, and observability across DNS, DHCP, and IPAM environments.
Collaborate with Network, and DDI teams to ensure scalable, resilient, and compliant network infrastructure across hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environments.
Integrate AI/ML and GenAI capabilities for proactive issue detection, intelligent change management, and predictive capacity insights.
Champion network programmability and DevOps principles, promoting software-driven control and visibility at global scale.
Drive Operational Excellence
Build a culture of automation-first operations that improve reliability, velocity, and efficiency.
Establish and measure SLA/SLO/KPI targets for DDI and network automation platforms.
Implement observability, telemetry, and analytics frameworks to provide real-time visibility into network health and performance.
Lead initiatives to optimize cost, performance, and compliance across enterprise networks.
Mature SRE and NetDevOps practices to ensure high availability, fast recovery, and continuous improvement.
Lead People and Organizational Transformation
Build and lead high-performing global teams specializing in network software engineering, DDI services, and automation.
Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning through mentoring, coaching, and technical development.
Drive inclusion and collaboration across diverse, cross-functional teams.
Partner closely with Product and Platform Engineering leaders to align execution with Walmart’s strategic priorities.
What You’ll Bring
12+ years of experience in network engineering, software development, or infrastructure leadership roles.
Proven experience designing and building production-grade infrastructure automation platforms at scale.
Deep technical expertise in:
Intent-based networking, infrastructure-as-code, and network systems
Web frameworks such as Django, Flask and FastAPI
HTML, CSS and Javascript
React JS, Mobx
Real-time data streaming with Kafka or NATS
Databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL
Splunk, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana,
Grafana and Prometheus
Generative AI: OpenAI APIs, LangChain and RAG
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and Git-based workflows.
Familiarity with source-of-truth systems like NetBox.
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) is a strong plus.
A collaborative mindset, strong debugging skills, and a passion for systems that scale.
Deep expertise in DDI technologies (Infoblox, BIND) and IP address management automation.
Strong proficiency in Python, Go, or Java, and hands-on experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and automation pipelines.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Concord) and container-based networking (Kubernetes CNI, service mesh).
Expertise in network observability, telemetry, and SRE frameworks for large-scale distributed environments.
