About Team:
On the Item and Inventory team, we ensure our customers get their orders when and where they want them, in a frictionless, predictable manner. What's more, we create reusable SaaS products and services that manage our catalog and power end-to-end inventory management, including replenishment, fulfillment, and transportation. With end-to-end inventory management, from replenishment and fulfillment to transportation, we give our drivers and partners the tools they need to get the right items to customers on time and in the right packaging.
What you'll do:
Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wireframes); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with the project team and cross-functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent reoccurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.
Leads the work of other small groups of six to ten engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, direction, and examples; identifying short- and long- term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes.
Supports business objectives by collaborating with business partners to identify opportunities; addressing high-priority initiatives (for example a business strategy, technical feasibility, implementation alternatives); identifying short- and long-term solutions; and leading cross-functional partnership.
Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high-level design by partnering with the product management, Web Operations, project management, business and user experience teams; obtaining cross-function approvals; driving proof-of-concept; and implementing prototypes to validate ideas.
Utilizes industry research to improve Wal-Mart's technology environment by analyzing industry best practices; benchmarking industry against internal
processes and solutions; researching or influencing future industry solutions for fit with internal needs; and defining software development guidelines, standards and processes.
Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

Developing and executing plans: Drive the execution of multiple business plans and tech initiatives. Effectively communicate execution, capacity, resource plans, and priorities
Building strategic relationships: Partner with peer teams to help design omni-presence solution across stores and online
Operating with excellence – Set an example in managing code quality via reviews, coverage, automation for core application and peer teams. Contribute to technology backlog based on reviews.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science with 12+ years' experience in software engineering OR Master of Science and 10+ years' experience in software engineering
Manage software development lifecycle and lead Engineering projects
In-depth knowledge of developing back-end application using Java/Scala technologies
Experience with Big-Data Technologies like GCP, BQ, Kafka, Spark, C*, Elastic, Solr, Hadoop, hive
Exposure to Implement AI to work
Exposure to Test Automation Frameworks and technologies
Understanding of cloud technologies and designing solutions deployed to Azure & Google Cloud Platform
Engage in technical design and discussions and also help drive technical architecture
Ensure the happiness and productivity of the team’s software engineers
Help mitigate risk (technical, product, personnel)
Collaborate with other scrum teams, QA, Release Management, Program Management, and TechOps.
Provide guidance and influence in other areas of the Engineering (e.g. DevOps and Test Engineering)
Communicate the vision of our product to external entities
Participate in relevant Engineering and Technical Operations workgroups and on-call rotations to assure service availability
Foster, enable and promote innovation
Define team metrics and meet productivity goals of the organization
Mentor software engineers through their career growth

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
