What is the opportunity?
Overall, the Senior Manager, Sector & Segment Strategies plays a critical role in Commercial Banking’s success as they focus on creating and executing strategies to serve specific sector and segment client needs.
As part of the Commercial Banking Strategy team, you will be responsible for stewardship of prioritized industry and segment strategies, acting as a recognized subject matter expert, fully versed in market trends, various sector financial performance metrics and competitive dynamics (RBC vs. the market). You will be a primary driver of strategy development and supporting implementation to achieve the desired financial performance, market share, client experience goals and protection of RBC’s competitive advantage. A key agent for change, you must establish and maintain collaborative connectivity across Commercial Banking (including relevant product and distribution partners), Group Risk Management, and other key stakeholders across the broader enterprise. You will work across the Commercial Banking Strategy team to ensure recommended strategies align with the broader Commercial Banking Strategy and prioritized growth strategies as is applicable.
What will you do?
Leveraging primary and secondary research, competitive intelligence, and input from client relationship teams, you will assemble the data required to formulate a strategy and clear tactics designed to deliver improved financial performance, client satisfaction, market share growth and competitive advantageIdentify new innovative ways to engage our clients and teams, solve client and advisor irritants, determine opportunities to delight clients and advisors, improve delivery of our products and services, support upskilling of our teams in the field, and/or add new complimentary dimensions (e.g. strategic partnerships) to enhance competitivenessWork proactively and effectively with client relationship teams, sales leadership teams, and national office executives (Commercial product leaders, strategy team members and others) to develop and iterate on multi-year strategiesWork with Regional Banking partners to define and help shape socialization and communication tactics to ensure front line, key national office partners and all key stakeholders are aware of the strategy, underlying rationale, benefits, and implementationEnsure resources necessary to deliver on a successful implementation plan, including establishing plans, artifacts and milestones which can be monitored to track execution as well as developing effective feedback mechanism to ensure implementation plan is on track and that desired goals and results are being metSupport the development of thought leadership on sector and segment trends, portfolio insights and best practices to support specialization in the field and recognition as “best-in-class” specialistsAct as a conduit for innovation and feedback with respect to what’s working, areas of opportunity and assessment of tactical implementation related to developed strategiesUtilize data and insights to both inform strategies while also ensuring we prioritize strategies and initiatives for greatest impact and alignment to the overall growth aspirations of Commercial BankingWhat do you need to succeed?
