Provides project management and leadership to a set of project teams essential to the cross-functional development of new or improved products and new indications from preclinical research (DP1) to successful market launch and position in the global market (DP5).  Facilitates project tasks working together with functional heads from areas such as clinical development, regulatory affairs, legal, quality assurance, business development and marketing.  Provides timely communication to senior leadership on project requirements, status and time lines.  Also manages franchise teams necessary to assure the coordination of strategic long range projects with near term life cycle management initiatives for currently licensed products.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

● Develop scope of project and points of organizational functional involvement from technical to top level management. Leads the strategic planning process and commercial evaluation of project

● Define and develop the target profiles, goals, and strategy with input from key stakeholders.  Facilitates and manages the agreement from line management on schedule, performance, capacity and cost plans, for detailed individual project phases

● Accountable for all aspects of the product development from concept through launch utilizing the R&D development process (D&T gates DP1, DP2, DP3, DP4 and DP5) based on the complexity of the project. Insures sufficient resource availability including technical, scientific, clinical, legal, and regulatory groups.  Identifies and recommends training to insure that project team skill-sets are available as required to support the project strategy

● Responsible for planning, tracking. reporting and adjusting the project schedule and resources.  Provides oversight to the financial planning and tracking for the assigned projects in terms of budgets and resources

● Responsible for fulfilling communication requirements of the organization including project status and the timely escalation of any issues to the Head of PMO, sponsors, key stakeholders and project steering committees

● Develops SMART objectives for project team members. Provides performance feedback to functional area management

● Other activities and projects as assigned by the PMO Head

Ph.D., Masters or Bachelors in a Scientific field 8 years relevant experience Must have worked on or experience leading several multi-functional teams that delivered either new products or extensions of existing products from concept through clinical evaluation or licensing Must have delivered complex strategic / scientific presentation to Senior Management with acceptance Should have worked with key marketing and R&D functions to generate a Business Case for either a new product or extension to existing product that included such items as marketing data, P&L statement, impact on organization, etc. Excellent oral and written communication skills to articulate concepts and ideas in effective manner to senior management Project Management, including planning, organization, reporting, controlling, etc.  Demonstrated effective leadership abilities that shows development and motivation of teams that met strategic organizational objectives Communication, both written and oral. Must have ability to articulate concepts and ideas and present them in a persuasive manner to Senior Management Demonstrated Team Player. Must have ability to work with and establish network with various levels and functions within the organization Demonstrated ability with the appropriate program management tools, for instance Visio and MS Project scheduling tools Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.  Example:  If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.

 

 

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.   Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.  Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
