Senior Manager, Private Brand Packaging - Packaging Engineering
Position Summary...

What you'll do...As the Senior Manager, Packaging Engineering for Member’s Mark, you’ll lead the structural packaging strategy behind one of the most influential private brands in retail. You will shape how millions of members experience our products — ensuring they’re protected, safe, sustainable, operationally efficient, and aligned with the evolving needs of our members and supply chain partners. In this role, you’ll be the architect of packaging innovation: guiding suppliers, influencing cross-functional teams, driving cost savings, and elevating Member’s Mark through packaging that performs, delights, and leads the industry. Lead the structural packaging strategy for Member’s Mark. Own the development of structural packaging and packaging specifications for all Pantry and Dry Grocery categories.Deliver packaging that protects product through the entire supply chain, meets food and product safety requirements, and reduces damage and defects. Drive innovation and operational efficiency. Implement emerging packaging methodologies and technologies; pilot and test solutions that reduce cost, improve performance, and enhance the member experience.Develop operationally efficient packaging that improves handling in DCs and by associates. Champion sustainability and regulatory readiness. Build and maintain Member’s Mark packaging and sustainability standards, ensuring alignment with EPR legislation and community commitments.Identify and introduce sustainable substrates and partner with procurement to source them effectively. Solve complex packaging challenges with influence and expertise. Lead cross-functional problem solving that balances structural performance, food safety, supplier capability, and cost.Coordinate complex testing, line trials, and quality evaluations; advise partners on packaging/product interactions. Influence at all levels — internally and externally. Work with Merchants, Sourcing, Quality, Brand, and supplier partners to align packaging solutions to category strategy and member needs.Use your executive presence to guide suppliers, negotiate packaging cost improvements with sourcing, and strengthen partnerships. Stay ahead of trends to advance Member’s Mark. Build organizational awareness of packaging innovation, materials, sustainability shifts, and industry direction.Act as the subject-matter expert who continuously anticipates what’s next for the business and member value. What You’ll Bring... Technical & Domain Expertise Deep packaging engineering experience in CPG, food manufacturing, or private label across multiple packaging materials and substrates.Strong understanding of packaging quality, testing protocols, product/packaging interactions, and supply chain impacts. Leadership & Influence Skills Ability to influence at all levels, lead cross-functional teams, and secure buy-in from suppliers and senior leaders.Executive presence with a partnership mindset built on integrity, transparency, and shared goals. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
