Role
The Senior Manager, Practice Development & Recruiting and Business Programs is responsible for leading a high-performing team focused on helping private wealth investment branches grow, operate efficiently, and stay aligned with regulatory and compliance standards. The successful candidate will manage relationships with Investment Advisors and regional leadership teams, acting as a strategic partner in advisor development, succession planning, recruiting, and practice optimization. This is a people-leadership role that requires strong business acumen, excellent stakeholder engagement, and the ability to drive execution across complex, cross-functional initiatives. The successful candidate will act as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership and manage the team like a business — accountable for outcomes, colleague engagement, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end execution of national programs for advisor recruitment, succession planning, and team formation.
Provide strategic support to field leadership and Branch Managers on talent acquisition, offer structuring, and advisor onboarding.
Develop and maintain a robust succession planning framework for advisors nearing retirement.
Design and implement scalable programs, resources, and tools to improve advisor effectiveness, client experience, and practice growth.
Identify future leaders and design career development paths that ensure continuity and long-term growth.
Partner with Investment Advisors and Branch Managers to provide consultative support on succession planning, practice evolution, and strategic partnerships.
Drive recruiting strategies by equipping Branch Managers with tools and consultation to attract top-tier advisor talent.
Foster strong cross-functional relationships with OneTD Partners, Compliance, HR, and other key stakeholders.
Champion colleague experience, coach team members, and create a culture of ownership and performance.
Work closely with compliance, marketing, technology, and operations teams to deliver integrated solutions for advisors and branches.
Take a comprehensive view of branch operations, integrating elements such as client experience, advisor onboarding, compensation models, and operational workflows.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements while innovating ways to improve advisor and client experiences.
Lead and develop a team of practice management professionals focused on advisor growth, retention, and performance.
Educational & Professional Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
7 to 10+ years of experience in wealth management, practice management, or business development roles.
Deep understanding of the Canadian advisory landscape, including CIRO-regulated advisory platforms.
Proven experience in developing and executing practice management or advisor development programs within a wealth management environment.
Strong understanding of financial advisory models, client service standards, and regulatory frameworks.
Proven ability to influence and build strategic partnerships across multiple stakeholders.
Familiarity with Total Wealth Solutions and marketing strategies for client engagement.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing, coaching, and motivating high-performing teams.
Strong communication and influence skills — able to partner effectively with senior leaders and field teams.
Ability to lead and operationalize strategic programs, with a focus on measurable impact and advisor success.
Comfortable driving change, managing ambiguity, and adapting to evolving business needs.
Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
