**What you’ll be doing**
Risk Management is led by the SEVP and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and is accountable on matters relating to the independent oversight of the management of risks inherent to the activities of CIBC, its subsidiaries and affiliates. These risks include but are not limited to ensuring that effective processes are in place for the identification, management, measurement, monitoring and control of operational, reputation and legal, market, credit, strategic, investment and liquidity risk, collectively “CIBC Risk”, incurred by CIBC’s retail and wholesale businesses, infrastructure and corporate governance groups.
Model Validation is a second line of defense and the mandate is to proactively protect CIBC against major financial loss or exposure due to model risk. Model Validation provides independent, effective challenge, whereby analytic models, numerical computations and techniques applicable to sufficiently complex bank-wide analytics, are reviewed and approved on behalf of Risk Management.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Model Governance and Operational Risk, the Senior Manager will perform independent and effective challenge, assessment, and monitoring of model risk across operational risk programs such as Risk Control Self‑Assessment (RCSA), Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA), Third Party Risk Assessment (TPRA). You will serve as the primary point of contact for model risk within these programs and collaborate across CIBC to ensure model risk is assessed consistently and aligned with the Model Risk and Validation Policy, Operational Risk Assessment Methodology, and the Effective Challenge User Guide. In addition, you will establish metrics and dashboards for senior leadership, lead training and enablement, and continuously improve tooling and processes to enhance control effectiveness and align with CIBC’s risk appetite.
_At CIBC, we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote._
**How you’ll succeed**
+ **Critical Thinking –** Maintain and apply a consistent standard for assessing and challenging model risk in RCSA, CIRA, TPRA, and other applicable programs and processes; exercise sound judgment on materiality and residual risk.
+ **Relationship Management** – Build trusted relationships internally and externally to Model Validation. Partner with GORM, first line teams including 1B, project managers, Technology, vendor managers, and third‑party service providers to ensure model risk is assessed appropriately and timely.
+ **Control and Documentation** – Ensure assessments and independent challenge are evidenced through sufficient documentation that meets Audit and regulatory expectations, including clear rationale, traceability, and action plans.
+ **Governance, Reporting and Analytics –** Execute model governance activities such as inventory management, regulatory compliance linkage, deficiency tracking, and reporting. Use data to identify themes, trends, and areas requiring remediation.
+ **Creative Thinking** – You will think differently, see opportunities where challenges and efficiency opportunities appear to exist, and propose and implement creative solutions.
+ **Project Management** – You will provide rigor and structure around the scheduling and organizing of the work that we do. Where required, you will assist in managing applicable actions plans and associated due dates.
