The Merchandising Process Improvement team plays a critical, highly visible role in advancing enterprise strategy and accelerating growth. By reimagining and transforming complex, cross‑functional merchandising processes, the team unlocks scalable capabilities that directly impact performance, agility, and customer experience. This work has driven hundreds of millions of dollars in incremental sales and continues to shape how CVS Health competes and wins in the marketplace.
As Senior Manager, Merchandising Process Improvement, you will operate as a strategic partner to senior leaders, identifying high‑value opportunities through data‑driven insights, external benchmarking, and deep business understanding. You will design future‑state solutions and lead cross‑functional execution that translates strategy into measurable results. This role requires strong strategic judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to influence across functions and leadership levels—while rapidly developing expertise across diverse business domains. Success in this role means delivering outsized impact, shaping enterprise priorities, and helping scale the next generation of merchandising capabilities at CVS Health.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning & Execution (30%)Develop actionable metrics and insights by leveraging data and leading first‑level analyses to uncover key business drivers and emerging trends.Drive effective planning and execution through disciplined project management across teams and functions.Influence and communicate effectively at all levels, including Senior Vice Presidents, through concise storytelling, executive‑ready presentations, and clear recommendations.Establish timelines, ownership, and interdependencies that enable teams to execute and deliver results.Navigate ambiguity and change while maintaining momentum toward strategic goals.Champion innovation by advancing ideas to VP and SVP leadership, balancing growth opportunities with financial risk and cost considerations.Monitor progress against strategic initiatives and KPIs, following up to ensure outcomes are achieved.Process Design, Evolution & Governance (25%)Conduct high‑quality analyses to identify sources of value and test hypotheses related to process improvement opportunities.Evaluate assumptions, methodologies, and downstream impacts to ensure insights are robust and defensible.Synthesize insights on current‑state processes to prioritize initiatives that deliver the greatest business value.Design scalable, sustainable processes, tools, and capabilities that support long‑term operational excellence.Stakeholder Influence & Change Management (30%)Use data and insights to influence stakeholders and drive informed decision‑making.Act as a change agent by embracing and promoting enterprise improvement initiatives across teams and partners.Break through implementation barriers by proactively addressing risks and constraints.Foster ethical conduct, compliance, and best‑practice adherence through clear policies and governance.Facilitate collaboration across functional teams to enable integrated, enterprise‑wide solutions.Track performance, retention, and KPI outcomes, providing recurring executive readouts in partnership with cross‑functional leaders.Develop and maintain standardized reporting views to monitor macro trends and key business drivers.Culture & Talent Development (15%)Lead with inclusion, empathy, and accountability, cultivating a culture that supports well‑being and high performance.Set clear expectations and goals to drive engagement and results.Serve as a coach and mentor, supporting Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and developing high‑potential talent.Leverage enterprise talent tools and development programs to build leadership capability and succession strength.Required Qualifications5+ years of experience developing, implementing, and executing complex programs5+ years of demonstrated leadership success in a competitive environment (retail experience preferred)Proven ability to influence stakeholders with and without formal authorityExperience leading under pressure and adapting to evolving business needsExcellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and executive‑level presentation skillsStrong cross‑functional collaboration across diverse teams and leadership stylesAdvanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPointBachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceAbility to travel up to 20% based on business needsPreferred Qualifications10+ years of program and people leadership experienceExperience in retail, healthcare, or pharmaceutical environmentsDemonstrated success solving highly complex problems in dynamic settingsSQL capability preferredConsulting experience preferredAdvanced degree (Master’s or higher)Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$82,940.00 - $182,549.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
