Senior Manager, Merchandising Opportunities

Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Merch Opportunities is responsible for supporting the discovery, validation, and prioritization of new value streams to grow the Front Store business. This role will support a portfolio of high-profile, strategic, and innovative projects aimed at driving growth for CVS merchandising, particularly through identifying assortment and product/portfolio related opportunities. The Senior Manager will work closely, internally, with the wider opportunities and tooling organization and the business acceleration team as well as, beyond the organization, with category management partners to develop and execute strategic initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights to improve business performance. This new role centralizes and standardizes strategic project-based work that was previously dispersed across the organization to drive greater efficiencies and outsized growth.

Responsibilities

FS Merch Opportunities:

Drives analysis of new value streams (specifically around: assortment, product, portfolio, customer/basket, etc.) to help grow the Front Store business based on inputs from category management leaders, Business Acceleration team partners and external observations & data insightsEnsures new value streams are rigorously sized (analyzing internal and external data sources), validated and prioritized before championing them to opportunities/tooling teammates; business acceleration colleagues and merchandising leaders to ensure buy inSupports process-design, adoption of, execution (and ultimately, value creation) from new value streamsIdentifies ways to improve opportunity implementationDesigns analytical processes to ensure execution and implementation of new initiatives fit with broader CVS strategies, and are delivered on time, and on budgetMaintains relationships and ensures proper communication with category management to ensure opportunities are relevant and practical, and recommendations are executable and confirmation of financial impact of actions taken

Strategic Projects & Innovation:

Builds processes for management, prioritization, and socialization of high-profile, strategic, and innovative projects aimed at driving growth for CVSManages business case development  for 'white space' opportunity identification and sizingAssists in deployment of ‘test & learn’ pilots of programs in select stores, and measures and assess results

Research, Analysis, and Story Building:

Maintains and develops strategic story, timelines, and prioritization in presentation materials that can be shared with senior leadership and broader teams to maintain consistent vision and buy-inConducts research to maintain general knowledge of retail environment and competition and incorporates this knowledge into relevant business case analysesNavigates ambiguity and change to achieve goals and revises strategy to reflect this changePartners with sr. leaders to continually innovate the capabilities for the Front Store team as a whole. This includes leadership and participation in strategy development, experimentation design & execution, process improvement, capability development, talent development, etc.

Required Qualifications

7+ years’ experience identifying, designing, implementing and executing strategic & innovative projects and initiatives with a focus on customer/retail growth and loyalty7+ years’ experience deploying strong communication skills and storytelling with the ability to perceive when to optimally deploy: verbal (presentations; interpersonal; concision), visual (PowerPoint), and written (email) methods 7+ years’ proven track record of influencing others with and without authority7+ years’ demonstrable excellence in leading, developing, and managing a high-performing team. 8 to 10 years: Required

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working for a Fortune 5 company in merchandising, strategy, or customer experience and/or a similar function for a retail pharmacy company OR Consulting experience with related subject matter expertise from project engagementsAdvanced degree preferredBasic working knowledge of the Healthcare ecosystem and payments methodologies

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$82,940.00 - $182,549.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
