Senior Manager, Canadian Banking Controllership

To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com (https://www.cibc.com/en/about-cibc.html) **What you’ll be doing** Reporting into the Director, PBB Controllership, the Controller is accountable for providing financial controllership oversight to the financial accounting and processes used for statutory, regulatory and management accounting of businesses and legal entities in the Commercial and Corporate Banking Strategic Business Units. The role participates in Commercial and Corporate banking projects, provides advice and guidance in support of initiatives, along with end user reviews and tests to ensure financial reporting functionality and integrity is maintained. _At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote._ **How you’ll succeed** + **Advisory and Support** - Provide timely and value-added advice on accounting policies and financial reporting functional and controls requirements for Commercial and Corporate Banking lines of business. Lead and support the development and documentation of the current and future process maps for Finance, detailing data flows from source system to general ledger (GL) and downstream impacts. Serve as key liaison between Business programs and Finance Controllership teams. Proactively identify gaps and defects in requirements and facilitate resolution of issues to ensure adherence to project delivery timelines. Effectively prioritize and manage competing demands based on risks, urgency and deadlines. Regular project delivery status reporting to Finance stakeholders (i.e.. Controllership and CFO teams). + **Controls and Procedures** - Ensure that new or changes to products, services, processes have effective financial controls and comply with applicable accounting policies and standards (i.e. IFRS, USGAAP, accounting policies, OSFI regulations). Conduct thorough testing and reviews to support Finance sign-off on projects. Collaborate with Controllership teams to provide business and systems financial reporting and controls requirements, as needed. Create and managed comprehensive documentation of the end-to-end process flow, accounting policies, procedures, systems and controls for projects supported. Continuously evaluate internal controls and implement necessary changes in response to dynamic business and evolving regulatory landscape. Develop and maintain relationships with internal areas such as Risk Management, Internal Audit and Controllership teams. Ensure robust internal control environment and processes and compliance with SOX requirements. Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness while minimizing operational risk. + **Cross-Functional Relationships** - Regular contact with various Finance teams to provide consultation and support on Finance Controllership related business initiatives and projects. Regular contact with Technology on system changes, issues, impacts and testing of data and functionality. Regular contact with Enterprise Risk Management Team on any significant variance related to ECL/PCL. Regular contact with Operations on any significant changes impacting financial reporting. **Who you are** + **Bachelor’s degree** - A CPA or equivalent certification is preferred. + **10+ years of relevant work experience** in the financial service industry, an understanding of commercial or corporate banking loans and operations is a plus. + **Proven experience in process design, documentation, control, and optimization** within a large, full-service financial institution. + **Familiarity with ACBS** (Advanced Commercial Banking System) application and SAP ERP system is an asset. + **Critical analytical capability to assess and investigate complex situations** to reach productive decisions and recommendations. + **Ability to collaborate and influence** on organization-wide initiatives that require cross-functional alignment and effective change management while ensuring finance requirements are met. + **Experience with directing projects** , use case creation and documentation of test scenarios and results. + **Values matter to you.** You bring your real self to work and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability. **What CIBC Offers** At CIBC, your goals are a priority.
