Position Summary...The Senior Manager, Cart & Checkout Operations & Transactional Communications owns the end-to-end Cart and Checkout operations, including strategy, operations, performance and all member-facing transactional communications. This role is accountable for how Members understand, navigate, and complete a transaction—from cart actions through checkout, payment, confirmation, and post-purchase communication.
This leader serves as the single-threaded owner for Cart & Checkout operations, translating strategy into execution, driving measurable improvements in conversion and clarity, and ensuring a consistent, trusted transactional experience across all channels.What you'll do...Own the end-to-end Cart & Checkout experience, including cart behavior, checkout flow, payments, error states, confirmations, and recovery pathsDefine and execute Cart & Checkout strategy, priorities, and roadmaps aligned to vision and business objectivesOwn all transactional communications tied to cart, checkout, payment, and order events across email, SMS, push, and in-app channels through SmartCommsEstablish experience and messaging standards for clarity, consistency, tone, accessibility, and complianceManage prioritization, tradeoffs, dependencies, and delivery risks across initiativesTranslate business and member needs into experience requirements, functional specs, and success metricsDrive optimization through analytics, experimentation, and iterative delivery to improve conversion and reduce frictionEnsure experiences and communications are event-driven, scalable, resilient, and integrated with payments, fraud, tax, promotions, and fulfillment systemsServe as the primary point of accountability for Cart & Checkout performance metrics, including progression, completion, and conversionReduce member confusion and customer care contacts by improving experience design and transactional clarity Qualifications: 4+ years of direct ownership over Cart, Checkout, Payments, or transactional eCommerce experiences at scaleProven ability to define strategy and translate it into executable roadmaps and delivered outcomesStrong cross-functional leadership skills with experience influencing without direct authorityDeep understanding of checkout-related domains including payments, fraud, tax, promotions, and complianceData-driven mindset with experience using analytics and experimentation to inform decisionsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong UX and experience judgmentExperience working with event-driven systems, APIs, and modern eCommerce platforms At Sam's Club, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet!
