What is the opportunity?
The Business Risk Manager (BRM) supports the Director, Business Risk Management who acts as the primary risk manager the Lines of Business (LoB) and is responsible for building and maintaining a high level of capability relative to risk identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring across the LoB
What will you do?
Participate in Enterprise Risk Control Assessment process for the LoB, working with business representatives, ensuring that risk appetite constraints are supported by appropriate rationale factoring business growth objectives, external environment, industry practice and aligned to metrics where required.
Ensures comprehensive risk identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring across all risk types for the LoB in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Framework, including:
Risk identification, assessment and mitigation,Leads the LoB SMT in monitoring and participates, when required, in resolving applicable regulatory audits & inquiries such as but not limited to ;OSFI, CIRO, IAS, OSC and Regulatory Compliance issues as well as ongoing LoB attestations,Supports a First Line of Defense framework in partnership with GRMS & ORMSWorks with & supports second line of defense teams such as compliance, AML, Tax advisory etcThe Senior Manager will work closely with functional partners as well Business Risk & Governance team members to:identify and log operational and regulatory gaps/deficiencies in the appropriate platforms/systemsdesign and execute on the solutions required to close the issue that has been identifiedSupport & or review and approval of various marketing & or communication materials for internal & external distributionSupports the Francization committee for LOBFrench communication approvals as requiredReview & approval for social media responsesWhat do you need to succeed?
Demonstrate a collaborative work ethic and enterprise-wide mindset in the performance of duties.Supports LoB SMT to increase risk assessment/mitigation/monitoring capabilities across the LoB ensuring that employees understand RBC’s collective ambition relative to risk identification and management and support and reinforce targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals.Promote a strong culture of risk conduct, control awareness and risk mitigation in all dealings within or outside business unit. Enable a pragmatic and streamlined approach to issue resolution.Leverage the value in unit, department, and enterprise-wide teams to develop better solutions and achieve optimal enterprise-wide results.Accept and successfully execute change management best practices while supporting employees and colleagues through the change process and helping them stay focused on business objectives.Must haves:
Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in financial services sector with 3-5 years experience in RiskProven business acumen and credibilityStrong influencing, collaboration, relationship building and communication skillsStrategic mindset, with significant knowledge and understanding of RBC businesses and organizationFrench language proficiencyNice-to-have:
Strong investments/brokerage , Retail banking & or operational experience is a definite asset and preferred Solid working knowledge the financial services regulatory landscape, ideally with several years experience in Risk Management, Compliance or Internal Audit.Canadian Securities Course (CSC), the Conduct & Practices exam (CPH) and Options Course (OLC)Investment Dealer Supervisors Course (IDSC) courseWhat’s in it for you?
