Senior Mainframe Application Developer (COBOL / CICS / DB2)

**CTG is seeking to fill a Senior Mainframe Application Developer (COBOL / CICS / DB2) position for our client.**
**Location:** Atlanta, GA
**Duration:** 5 months
**Duties:**
+ Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
+ Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into efficient, reliable application solutions.
+ Develop and support CICS online transactions and batch programs using JCL.
+ Perform DB2 database design support, SQL development, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
+ Maintain and enhance VSAM files and batch/online processing workflows.
+ Participate in application support activities, including debugging, root cause analysis, and production issue resolution.
+ Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, performance guidelines, and best practices.
+ Utilize ChangeMan or similar change management/version control tools to manage code promotions and releases.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, QA, and infrastructure, to deliver high-quality solutions.
**Skills:**
+ Strong proficiency in COBOL (COBOL II, COBOL 85, Enterprise COBOL).
+ Extensive experience with CICS online transaction processing.
+ Solid understanding of DB2 concepts, SQL, and relational database design.
+ Proficiency with JCL for batch job development and scheduling.
+ Experience working with VSAM file structures.
+ Working knowledge of TSO/ISPF for application development and debugging.
+ Experience with ChangeMan or comparable mainframe change management tools.
**Experience:**
+ 7+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development.
+ Proven experience supporting and enhancing large-scale, high-availability mainframe systems.
+ Experience working in regulated or high-volume transaction environments is preferred.
+ Nice to have: exposure to mainframe modernization initiatives, z/OS Connect, API enablement, DevOps for mainframe, or hybrid cloud architectures.
+ Nice to have: familiarity with AI/ML integration concepts within mainframe environments.
**Education:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
