Senior Liability Claims Advisor

JLT Risk Solutions Pty Ltd (a business of Marsh) is the appointed Scheme Manager to the Local Government Association Mutual Liability Scheme (LGAMLS).  The LGAMLS provides the broadest and most extensive civil liability protection to its Members which are Local Government Councils and prescribed bodies. As the Scheme Manager, JLT Risk Solutions manages Claims, provides risk advice, and delivers risk management services for all Local Government in South Australia.  


We are seeking an experienced liability claims professional with experience in either private practice or in managing claims at a senior capacity to join us as Senior Liability Claims Advisor.


You will have an integral role in the evolution of the claims team, building technical skill sets which allow team members to explore a higher level of claim complexity. You will also be a trusted resource that Members will refer to when seeking advice on complex Local Government claims. 


This role is based in Adelaide and offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with three days in the office and two days working from home.



We will count on you to:

Lead the delivery of liability claims management and risk advice to the Local Government sector.Deliver technical advice to the Claims team.Develop the technical skill set of the Claims team.Manage sensitive, political, and high-risk claims, with the support of the LGAMLS Legal Panel and attend matters at Court.Collaborate with Liability Risk Advisors to identify claims trends to establish proactive risk management programs/guidance.Support Scheme Manager in complying with delivery of LGAMLS KPI’s and other key objectives as set out in the LGSA Mutual Board Strategy



What you need to have: 

3+ years’ private practice experience or experience in managing liability claims in a senior capacity.A Bachelor of Law would be highly regarded.Experience in working with Local Government across Risk, Governance and strategy would be an advantage.Exceptional relationship building, communication and negotiations skills with internal and external stakeholders and clients.A valid driver license, and the ability to travel to metropolitan and regional locations as required.
