Position Overview:
This position is for Senior Lead Systems Engineer to join the Systems Engineering – Airplane Systems organization at Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore. In this role, you will lead Mandates & Safety activities, overseeing system architecture, design, development of system-level requirements, verification, validation, and support for FAA and EASA certification for electronic products like Displays, Radios and Flight Deck. This role offers a unique opportunity to tackle complex technical challenges in Avionics system design and development for aircraft systems.
This position provides consultation and technical direction to design teams and management teams on near term and longer-range projects relative to System safety requirements and risk estimation and management, including applicable regulations and standards.
Position Responsibilities:
Expert in two or more aircraft systems (e.g., Avionics, FMS, Displays, Radio/Comm, SATCOM, Flight Controls, Flight Deck) with certification expertise.
Lead hazard identification, risk analysis, and mitigation to meet safety and operational goals.
Verify system designs against FAA, EASA, and other certification standards; develop certification basis.
Guide implementation of new technologies (e.g., Sustainability, SAF).
Lead and approve stage gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, Certification).
Optimize architecture for reuse, productivity, and safety enhancements.
Conduct comprehensive safety assessments across system architecture, hardware/software, and installations.
Ensure system safety planning, processes, and protections in satellite production operations.
Define and maintain system safety design practices; collaborate with Technical Fellowship.
Innovate safety methods (STPA, SCFTA, Bow-Tie analysis) and explore MBSE tools for safety deliverables.
Provide real-time support and develop contingency plans for safe operations.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to embed safety in all activities.
Review design specs, test procedures, and change requests for safety impacts.
Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions.
Prepare reports and presentations for safety boards and reviews.
Lead research and recommend technology investments; recognized expert in process development and supplier issue resolution.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
Proven experience in designing, developing, or integrating multiple aircraft systems, emphasizing safety requirements, mandates, and hazard analysis.
Proficient in Cockpit Displays and Flight Deck Design/Development
Knowledge of ATC operations, aircraft interiors, and emissions is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Master’s degree & Doctorate degree is preferred.
Experience in aerospace industry integrating system-level requirements into complex platforms or systems.
Knowledge of DGCA, CEMILAC, MIL, FAA/EASA, and type certification processes.
Proficient in Systems Engineering fundamentals including requirement validation/verification, functional integration, and Concept of Operations.
Familiar with aircraft system safety analysis standards such as MIL-STD-882E, ARP-4761, and ARP-4754.
Understanding of RTCA/DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, DO-313, and FAA 14 CFR Part 25 regulations.
Extensive experience in design, development, integration, and certification Avionics Products especially Displays
Strong aerospace systems engineering background with the ability to leverage IT solutions to advance organizational goals.
Experience presenting technical analyses and proposals to senior leadership, regulators, or customers.
Technical proficiency in project management concepts and tools.
Additional certifications in aviation/aerospace system safety, accident/incident analysis, or safety program management from recognized institutions are a plus.
Typical Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Avionics, Aerospace, or related field from an accredited university, with 18+ years (Bachelor’s), 16+ years (Master’s), or 13+ years (PhD) of experience in aerospace system engineering, design, and analysis.
